OFFERS COMING FOR ROY WILLIAMS OF LIONS?

Adam Schefter of NFL Network reports that teams are expected to begin making offers to the Lions for receiver Roy Williams.
The trade deadline is October 14.
Per Schefter, the Lions are posturing this thing to get not only one or more picks, but also someone who can help the team now.  The other possibility is for the Lions to slap the franchise tag on Williams after the season, and then trade him.
The fact that Martin Mayhew and Tom Lewand would like to preserve their newfound capacities with the team (and also remain employed) likely is driving the desire to get help now.
The other factor is the cap room saved by moving Williams versus the cap room needed to absorb one or more new players.  As we understand it, the Lions don’t have much room to maneuver under the current cap.
Schefter also reports that the Lions offered Williams for Cowboys defensive end DeMarcus Ware prior to the season, and that the Lions asked for two first-round picks when other teams inquired.

  1. Will Roy help Flacco get off the field when he’s laying on it sometime within the next 3 hours?

  2. That’s was Millen, beleiving someone will give 2 first rounders or a player like Ware, that’s just stupid.
I think many teams will be interested for a second rounder or equivalent, the eagles for Shepard sound good, the Cowboys will probably offer 2 backup players, the Dolphins can offer Joey Porter, a second rounder or a couple of not so good starters, Tampa, Cleveland and Seattle will also be callling.

  3. Lito for Roy Williams would not work from an Eagles perspective. They would have no 3rd CB. Their WR are fine. Look at their stats without Curtis and Reggie Brown.
WR don’t win. A strong O-line that gives a QB time wins.

  4. Miami will give one of its seconds! I haven’t received permission from Parcells, but I’m offering now anyway. Would be great for everyone.

  5. Dallas offered their #1 in ’09 + Barbie Carpenter + other “considerations” and it was No Deal. RW was in Odessa, TX during the Lions bye week and still says he wants to be (1) a Cowboy, or (2) a Texan. His (distant) 3rd choice is to go somewhere he can get a ring and spend the rest of his career, but he really wants to come home to Texas. Dallas cleared up the cap room for a move like this. Make it happen, Jerry!

~~what a shocking development that Roy was in Texas during the bye week, seeing as to how he LIVES there and everything…Hes NOT going to the Cowboys or anywhere else. Not even the Cowboys are retarted enough to give up first rounders for a great #2, but thats what he is a number 2!! Hes NOT ANQUAN!!!
