BROWNS, WINSLOW STRIKE A DEAL

The Cleveland Browns announced moments ago via e-mail that a deal has been reached to rescind the suspension of tight end Kellen Winslow. But even though Winslow will now be paid for Sunday’s game against the Jaguars, he still won’t play in it. “The Cleveland Browns are pleased to have this matter behind us,” the team said. “We have worked through our differences and look forward to having Kellen return.” But none of this changes what Winslow said, including that the team was trying to cover up the fact that he had a staph infection. Since the hearing on his appeal wasn’t going to commence until Tuesday, this resolution is nothing more than a capitulation by the team. And thus it’s hard for us not to believe that Winslow was right.
