AGENT LEIGH STEINBERG ARRESTED

The longtime NFL agent Leigh Steinberg was arrested last week on suspicion of being drunk in public. Police say they got a report about a man “screaming and attempting to climb a hill” at about 8:00 p.m. on October 22, and the officers who responded to the call arrested Steinberg. Police say they smelled alcohol and Steinberg’s speech was slurred, but he was not in possession of alcohol at the time. Steinberg was released on his own recognizance pending a December 8 court hearing, the Associated Press reports. His previous run-ins with the law include drunk driving arrests in 1997 and 2007. With clients including Troy Aikman, Steve Young and Drew Bledsoe, Steinberg was one of the most influential agents in the NFL in the 1990s.
