Giants receiver Plaxico Burress will sit out Sunday’s game against the Redskins because of a sore right hamstring.
You can criticize Burress for a lot of things, but his willingness to play through pain is not one of them. He played every game during the Giants’ Super Bowl season despite an ankle injury that kept him off the practice field. Burress injured his hamstring Nov. 16 in the win over the Ravens and aggravated it on the opening series of last week’s win over the Cardinals.
Domenik Hixon will start in Burress’ place. Attention fantasy geeks: Hixon had four catches for 102 yards and a touchdown against the Seahawks, when Burress was suspended for being a bonehead.

Burress is as good as gone in New York next year. Expect Hixon and Smith to be the top two recievers next year, unless they pick up a new one in free agency.

I think the ankle injury thing was an excuse to get out of practicing. Come on, everybody knows he’s a head case.

Yep. I’m sure the team doctors covered for him for almost the whole season and the playoffs. Because team doctors are well known for covering for players so they can skip practice. It’s not like New York has any good doctors or hospitals. Piece of cake to fool those rubes! Probably never even heard of a MRI. And, of course, Tom Coughlin is the kind of easy going coach that will always trust a player when it comes to injuries. Good theory there, Vox.

Didn’t have to have surgery on that ankle? Damaged ligaments or something like that.

  5. Super Florio says: Nov 28, 2008 9:21 PM

FYI – Hixon won’t put up those stats against a stout Redskins secondary.

Any WR could go for a buck-oh-two and a TD against the Shehawks this season…

    skins to cover

    2 explanations for this:
    1. Burress is really hurt.
I mean this is a player who last year played with torn tendons and various injuries and still excelled. So his injury is severe.
    2. He’s pissed off Coughlin and co. enough that he’s not worth the headache and he’s being benched due to “injury”.

I think Washington DEF will be slightly better than Seattle (note the sarcasm).
In other news, the Jonas Brothers went 4 for 102 and TD against the Seahawks yesterday too.

No I wont criticize him for not playing through injury last year. Although this year the man was paid and loved by his fans until he became an idiot again. Not only is his team performing and winning without him, but getting past all the distractions he brings them. This guy should not ever miss a catch from not being open. His gigantic head filled up like a hot air balloon would give enough space for anyone to catch balls. In a perfect position to be a team player and charge to another super bowl game but nope not plax he is pissing it away. GOOD GOD GROW UP. They will need him to repeat and he has let down his entire team and coaching staff. Not to mention the fantasy owners who are pissed off every other week (I don’t have him) cause he can’t do his JOB.

Dude I’ve seen nothing from the Redskins to indicate they have a good pass D. Seriously man. I bet Hixon puts up wicked sick numbers against the Deadskins.

  12. Sock_Puppet says: Nov 29, 2008 7:33 AM

Note that Plax’s new contract includes bonuses for each game that he is on the active roster.

  13. Tebow15 says: Nov 29, 2008 8:18 AM

If this was last year, and he was playing for a contract, he’d go out there and have 8 catches for 110 yards and a TD. Ever since this guy got his money he’s gone from a gamer “willing to gut it out and play through injuries” to an absolute turd. Buress is a piece of crap.

Titan Fans – it’s one of the best in the league. 4th actually…do you watch football?

  15. Vox Veritas says: Nov 29, 2008 9:38 AM

Oh yeah, I’m sure that team doctors are going to do what’s best for the team, and that may include giving Plastico an injury excuse to get him out of practice rather than just letting him skip practice because he doesn’t like to practice, and publicly proving himself to be the diva headcase that you know as well as I know that he is, east96st.

You all still do not get it
Plex Tommer Moss Smith Hixon Boss Headgecock does it matter no matter how good the D is for the Skins they can not cover them all
The team has great depth Eli has more hands to put the ball in then any QB in the game
They have Manningham if they really need to go to the depth chart
The Skins are good but not good enough

  17. bigblue59 says: Nov 29, 2008 10:10 AM

You all should listen to Vox after all he is a cowgurl fan and when it comes to head cases well they do hold the record for them

  18. JoeSixPack says: Nov 29, 2008 11:34 AM

Gunshot wounds do tend to make the hamstring a little bit sore.
