KAESVIHARN BECOMES 14TH SAINT ON IR

Free safety Kevin Kaesviharn was placed on injured reserve by the New Orleans Saints will miss the rest of the season with a neck injury. Kaesviharn suffered a stinger against the Buccaneers, his second in four weeks, and was placed on injured reserve on Thursday. Kaesviharn becomes the 14th Saint to go on injured reserve this season. If you add the three possible Starcaps suspensions and Lynell Mitchell, suspended from the practice squad, that makes 18 Saints who have been lost for the season. GM Mickey Loomis refused to use all the missing players as an excuse for the disappointing Saints season. “We’ve had a lot of adversity, if that’s what you’re asking me,” Loomis said. “But every team has adversity, and we’ve got to be capable, and we’ve got to do a better job of handling that at times. So I don’t know how else to answer that.” Kaesviharn, an eight-year veteran, started all 11 games he played this season and his 64 tackles are tied for second on the team behind Jonathan Vilma. He also had two interceptions. Josh Bullocks will start in his place on Sunday, with the recently signed Terrence Holt in reserve. The Saints also signed defensive end Tearrius George off the Cowboy practice squad to take Kaesviharn’s spot on the active roster.
