The early indications this week were that Cowboys cornerback Adam “Pacman” Jones had suffered a neck injury that was career threatening. But a second opinion gave Jones good news.
Adam Schefter of NFL Network is reporting that another doctor has told Jones he could resume playing in a few weeks. That doctor told Jones he has fluid in his spine but will not need surgery.
With only three games remaining in the regular season, even an injury that keeps Jones out for a few weeks could lead the Cowboys to put him on injured reserve. But Jones is hoping that he can play for the Cowboys in the playoffs, if they make it.
Jones has been ruled out for Sunday’s game against the Giants.

How do you go from career ending to a few weeks?

  2. Mbehavin2 says: Dec 11, 2008 2:03 PM

Who was the second Dr.? The famous athletic Doctor Jerry Jones? Or even if it was a Dr. recommended by JJ I would ask for a third opinion.

  3. neutral_like_sweden says: Dec 11, 2008 2:09 PM

Good for Pacman! The more talent there is playing in the league the better.

Did this Doctor give his opinion at gunpoint??

  5. Hollywood Wags says: Dec 11, 2008 2:14 PM

That jerkoff AIkman went on and on about how tough the Cowboys were, how playing a tough team in December removes all questions about their toughness.
I guess that douche missed all the Dallas guys being helped off the field. I swear, it was every other series of downs when a Cowboy was being attended to.
    Aikman is a slimebag.

No love lost here, but “fluid in the spine-no problem”? I would get a third opinion.

Let’s hope the doctors name is Vince Young.

i hope for pacman’s sake that doc isn’t a hack.

Too bad the paralyzed bouncer won’t be getting good news like this….with any luck at all, Jerry Jones will realize his team has no heart or character as long as he hangs onto people like Pacman, Tank and Turd Owens and he’ll get rid of them all.

“Adam Schefter of NFL Network is reporting that another doctor has told Jones he could resume playing in a few weeks.”
Are you sure this doctor isn’t out to get him?

  12. JoeSixPack says: Dec 11, 2008 2:45 PM

Once again – its not the neck that threatens his career. It’s what sits on top of it.

  13. svnrdr says: Dec 11, 2008 2:49 PM

Mr. Jone, I have good news and bad news for you…
The good news is that you will be able to use all of the chances that Roger Goodell continuously gives you to play in the NFL.
The bad news is that you have terminal cranial rectalitis and will be a turd for the rest of your pitiful life.

It has to be either Dr. Vinny Boombatz or Dr. Bombay.
Those old enough will recognize them as characters from Rodney Dangerfields shows and Bewitched

Adam Schefter is a well-appointed tiny little hack, from the school of, “the better my suit, the better I am”. Reminds me, there was a lineman named “The Pope” in Dan Jenkin’s, “Semi-Tough” and he hated sportswriters so much that once, at a buffet, he simply at the hack’s eyeglasses. I wish Adam Schefter would meet The Pope and be done with his squatty little five foot three inch frame. He’s crap. Does he not question the disparity between “career-threatening” and “back in three weeks”? Whereā€™s the investigation? For that matter, why does the NFL Network suck as bad as it does? Someone call that Tampa radio station for some real knee-deep investigative reporting. Not.

The second opinion was probably from a witchdoctor licensed somewhere in Africa…
‘fluid in thy spine – no problem! We put sand on thy neck to dry it out, and throw some bones to please the spinal cord gods…’

LMFAO @ JoeSixPack!!! I’m a Dallas fan, and even *I* thought that was hilarious!! Probably more so because it’s TRUE!! LOL The guy could be SO much better if he would just FOCUS!!!
On another note, i find it ironic how when a “turd” on a team is NOT a game changer.. no one really mentions them.. even though they ARE a “turd”. Yet on the other hand, when a “turd” on a team happens to BE a game changer, people call for their heads!! It makes you wonder whether or not they would be calling for these game changer’s, pardon me, “turd’s” heads, if they happened to play for the team that THEY cheered for.. just a thought!! ;o)

    Umm, “good news” Florio?
Career is over = good news
Clipped in drive-by = great news
Able to continue football career = bad news

antantneejay2.. is that the BEST you’ve got? If you are going to try and belittle somones opinion, or someones take on a situation, why don’t you try responding with an opinion, or a take of your OWN!! But to come on and type just “your first?”… that’s just WEAK!!! LOL It’s neither witty, nor insightful! It’s a pathetic attempt at an insult!! Don’t bring slingshots to gunfights!! ;o)

i think this is great news for the cowboys depleted secondary and for pacman. the way pacman was yanked from the bottom of that pile during the muffed punt and the spearing he took from steelers linebacker james harrison that pacman made through the rest of the game. it showed pacman’s passion for the game depsite the injury. if pacman can come back in a couple of weeks (if the swelling subsides) that would be great. pacman was a spark for the secondary. let’s give the young man a break. the media something influence people’s opinions and or perception of a person. let the young man play the game he has a passion for, we all make mistakes in life. i am surprise the cowboys front office did not have the steelers investigated for a bounty out on pacman.

this is karma for everyone that laughed at his career being over.

  29. Darth Ringo says: Dec 12, 2008 12:51 AM

Ok, so he may be able to play again. For how long? What team out there is going to sink lots of money into a player with a bad back and such a sordid history?
Jones probably felt he was destined for the Hall of Fame because of all the press clippings, but the final act of his career will be a one-and-done with the Cowboys.
    Good freakin’ riddance.

god speed, im glad pacman isnt facing a career threatning injury. i think hes matured a lot under the watchful eyes of the Big D organization. men are made there and he just needs another year or two. someone with his ability and skill def needs to show his complete game to defenders. under close scrutiny he was able to bounce back as one of the best corners in the league this yr. god bless you adam jones and i wish you a speedy recovery. I’ve also been noticing in games this yr, after kick returns people have been taking extra shots at him, dragging him after hes tackled, a mush to the face here and there. there are better ways to go at someone then by being dirty, is every special teams unit jealous and nervous about him going all the way?

The second opinion doctor was later quoted as saying,
“I’m not a real doctor…….but I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night”
