As it turns out, an ankle injury will keep running back Frank Gore out of action on Sunday against the Dolphins, according to Adam Schefter of NFL Network.
Gore had been listed as questionable, but his availability was supposed to be determined at game time.
The former University of Miami standout made the trip back to Miami with the team. However, the team decided on Saturday night to hold him out.
DeShaun Foster is expected to get the start at tailback. Thomas Clayton was elevated from the practice squad on Saturday to replace Gore on the active roster.

I hate to be the one to say it, but this doesn’t look good. If I was the 49ers, I would pick up a running back in Free Agency or the Draft. Put Gore to a 3rd down/Goaline back…See Titans and Vikings with White/Taylor.
I am not in anyway saying that Gore doesn’t have it anymore or that he is done, but if the 49ers want to keep him going year after year, then I would do the above option…It’s proven to work!
*Follow up to Previous Comment* that is unless Clayton is good.
