Art II and Dan Rooney have no connection with any gambling establishments. One of the main reasons for this deal happening was because Dans two brothers own dog and horse racing gambling facilities that have begun to include slots in recent years. This is why they were forced to sell off their shares to Dan and Art II.

Here’s the REAL conspiracy story: James Haslam III of Knoxville, Tennessee, is one of the minority owners. Haslam just wrote a big check to fund the University of Tennessee’s new building for the college of buisiness. Why isn’t Florio jumping on this as meaning that Bill Cowher will replace Kiffin as the coach at Tennessee?
OK, I agree that conspiracy story makes no sense. It makes a much sense as some of the other stuff Florio says, though.

@Bmore Styles: Did you see the piece on Football Night In America where Collinsworth had frozen a frame and a line was drawn across the plane of the goal line? The ball was crossing the plane in that frame.
That being said, I do think it was a very questionable call, as do most people. But honestly, I can also see, given the frame by frame evidence, that it could also be interpreted as a catch. I don’t agree with that interpretation, but I don’t think it’s a ridiculous conclusion.

Florio, Is it possible to enable voting on the stories you post just like it’s enabled for everyone’s comments?
I have to say, I’m disappointed that you don’t even mention the 31-0 vote and the fact that Dan Rooney thanked all of the owners for their support. It makes it feel like you’re pushing your angle by being selective about what you’re presenting.

I don’t understand why you still think this is a big deal, Florio. Do you not feel it is in the best interest for the league to keep the Rooney’s in charge of one of its most storied franchises? Especially a family that has been such a huge part of shaping the league into what it is today. Also, as has been mentioned it was a 31-0 vote… if they other owners really didn’t think it was worthy of doing they would have voted against it.
Give it a rest. I know you are under a lot of pressure to keep coming up with new posts to keep the machine going, but you also lose a lot of credibility when you are always so sensational.

Florio’s assessment of Jerry Jones’ philosophy that “There’s no such thing as bad publicity” is a bit hypocritcal. For the sake of gaining advertising dollars, he’s doing everything he can to discredit the Steelers organization on a couple of different levels, even sinking to implying the league shows favoritism to them. That’s quite an implication
But really, what do expect from a shyster? And has anyone else noticed that he’s come up with 3 different reasons to contest the Santonio Holmes TD when his previous argument fell through? After Pereira’s analysis on NFL Network, what’s the over/under on Florio changing his argument to “while the ball does cross the goalline and he has possession of the ball and the line judge’s view was blocked by a player and the video does indeed show indisputable evidence when slowed down, replay is not meant to be scrutinized that much to the extent to which frame-by-frame analysis is necessitated. Therefore, no TD.”?

did you ever think that continued ownership by the rooneys is the best possible outcome for the steelers, the city of pittsburgh, and the nfl? if the other 31 owners agreed to the deal so obviously they understand this.
ohh, and Florio, you forgot to mention that they also agreed to allow the team to carry more debt then the rules call for…or did that not seem appropriate considering the Giants and Jets were given similar concessions when they wanted approval to fund their new stadium…

Thank you for stating the obvious to everyone. Geez, could we find something a little LESS worthy of whining about in regards to the Steelers? How about a waterboy getting an F on his term paper or something?
This is almost the same thing as them opening up a joint bank account, nothing more, nothing less. Together they own 30% of the franchise, this was approved by the NFL and 31 other team owners. If this deal were to take place in any other organization NOBODY WOULD CARE! I know I wouldn’t give a crap.
How this is a concern to anyone is far beyond me, some of you are getting upset over absolutely nothing at all.

It’s not like he’s got compromising photos of the commissioner engaging in lewd acts and then hired an offensive line coach to send the surely non-existent photos to said commissioner as a shot across the bow.

Florio’s agenda and what has taken up of 50% of this site the last year:
1. Rooney’s don’t have a 30% owner, they are in violation, boo ho.
2. Rooney’s have racetracks and gambling (which dates back to their father Art decades ago) boo hoo
3. Hines Ward made a block, he is dirt, boo hoo
4. Questionable call in Steelers game, was it wrong? Boo hoo.
5. Steelers won’t win the division, well, because I don’t want them to, boo hoo
6. Steelers fan beat me down and stole my girl, boo hoo.
7. Steelers fan invents technology for new football, but it mat cost them a game, boo hoo
8. Steelers only get 3 in Pro Bowl, that means they dont have talent, boo hoo
9. Steelers messed up by tagging Starks not Faneca…. BUT FLORIO NEVER ADMITTED IT WAS THE RIGHT CALL!!!! Starks has been the starting LT practically all year and has played well. Kemoeatu, Faneca’s replacement has played well. Faneca got over-paid. Boo-hoo
