DOLPHINS COULD PLAY THEIR COLDEST GAME EVER

The Miami Dolphins dodged one cold-weather date on their schedule when their December 7 road game against the Bills was played indoors in Toronto. But Sunday’s game at Kansas City could be their coldest in team history.
The high temperature in Kansas City on Sunday is expected to be 13 degrees. According to the Palm Beach Post, the coldest game in Dolphins history came on a 14-degree day in New England on December 11, 1977.
Dolphins coach Tony Sparano said he has taken measures this week to get his team ready for the conditions, including practicing with balls soaked in ice water.
“We’re trying to coach everything,” Sparano said. “If we could have practiced in the freezer, we would have.”
If the Dolphins win in Kansas City, they could clinch the AFC East a week later at the Meadowlands, where the 10-day forecast calls for a relatively balmy high of 39 degrees.

Lucky for the Dolphins, Eric MangIdiot gave them a quarterback with signficant cold weather game experience.

Actually, the high for KC on Sunday is supposed to be a balmy 8 degrees. Everyone there is going to feel like their balls were soaked in ice water.

How will soaking their balls in cold water help the players?

  4. bgman says: Dec 19, 2008 8:05 PM

Balls soaked in ice water? Now there’s going to be some shrinkage!

  5. CountSnail says: Dec 19, 2008 8:06 PM

The Chiefs win this one. They are better than their record shows.

So what? Everyone knows that all players in the NFL, including the entire Kansas City Chefs and Dolphin rosters are all from Miami or California, with a couple of Penn and TX boys thrown in, making the whole “cold weather team-warm weather team” thing complete bull and as antiquated as leather helmets.
Good example: Troy Polamalu grew up in Oregan, went to USC but now, all of a sudden, out of the blue, he’s a cold-weather Steeler. (Hair IS getting out of control, sir.)
This cold weather thing is waaaaaaay overblown except for the fact that it’s cold for everyone.

    Countsnail,
You are what your record says you are…

Check their record; the Dolphins SUCK in December

Big game. Cold weather. Horrific conditions. That’s championship football in December!!! I don’t like the comfort of the domed stadiums. But I don’t have to play out there either.
Loved seeing the old footage of the old Giants, Brown, Packers, etc with the players running around in the muck, ball covered with mud, below zero temperature. That’s when they earn their money.

All that matters is the QB…Pennington from Marshall in WV & awful winds in Meadowlands. He’ll be fine. Dolphins will roll.
    (Ravens fan speaking BTW)

Yeah, I think Pennington will be just fine. And they have a couple of Rb’s they can just pound the ball with anyway.

The Dolphins were not a good cold weather team for 17 years because they reliled on throwing the ball 50 times per game. Now they are a defense/running team, teams like that play well in any weather condition. I expect that their short passing game/ running offense will be fine.

i dont why coach sporano didnt go see ricky w. for some advice. He would have sprung up a few aces for the team to fire up and bang….no more feeling cold

oh please you guys are forgetting 1 simple thing, the Jets defense know everywhere Pennington favorite targets, his roll, his shortcut, whatever the Jets Defense know Chad, he gonna have abt 3 ints vs the Jets Defense… That a Hell for sure, beside you guys didn’t see that Chad beg Jets FS~Rhode and CB~Revis not to ints his ball, and even they did, and they will do it again, easily. GO JETS to the SuperBowl!!!

Going to have to send out a search party after Florio.

  17. garyofferdahl says: Dec 19, 2008 9:55 PM

Jets are not anywhere near Superbowl material…they are about the 4th-6th best team….in the AFC…haaaa

Were taking KC in a upset

  19. Chief Wahoo says: Dec 19, 2008 10:27 PM

I would also think that Herm Edwards knows Chad Pennington extremely well… we shall see what difference that makes.

Doesnt Sparano know that you can’t practice being miserable? Sounds like it’s already in their heads.

Quit crying!!! Bear vs. Packers on Monday night… low 7 degrees with a -10 wind chill. ON THE LAKESHORE STFU!!

  23. wonderdog says: Dec 20, 2008 1:06 AM

Let’s not forget that the Chiefs have 17 (seventeen) rookies on their roster that have never played pro football in December with a daytime high temperature of 8 degrees. Plus, Herm Edwards is their coach. How much more of an advantage do the Fins need????

  24. nerfball says: Dec 20, 2008 8:13 AM

Pennington knows the Jets just as much as they know him. What’s to say Pennington easily identify all the Jets blitzes and pick apart the Jets secondary? Pennington has 6 int’s all year, but Jets fans think he’ll throw 3 against them? LOL
Miami will take care of business in KC this week, they are too well coached and then the pressure is all on the ‘Super Bowl’ bound Jets not to get beat by the QB they threw on the trash pile.

  25. oakland211 says: Dec 20, 2008 8:44 AM

When you’re high like a certain Dolphin I don’t think cold really matters, but that damn Leprechan with green clover and purple horseshoes might be an issue!

  26. navysully says: Dec 20, 2008 9:25 AM

Well the myth of global warming was good while it lasted…
