McKAY OUT OF BROWNS G.M. RACE, KOKINIS NEXT TO GO?

Last week, the Browns wanted to interview Rich McKay for the team’s still-vacant G.M. position. But McKay wanted to wait until the Falcons completed their playoff run. The Falcons flew into an Arizona window on Saturday, but then McKay’s name never appeared again. It has now. According to Tony Grossi of the Cleveland Plain Dealer, McKay has opted not to proceed. Grossi also writes that Ravens director of pro personnel George Kokinis might be leaning toward staying put. On Thursday, a league source gauged Kokinis’ chances of taking the Cleveland job as 50-50. Without Kokinis, the Browns’ options will be to promote director of player personnel T.J. McCreight, or to expand the search. Names that recently have emerged include former Broncos G.M. (and former PFT contributor) Ted Sundquist, and current Colts exec Chris Polian.
