ARIZONA FULLBACK'S LATE MOM SAW PLAYOFF SUCCESS COMING

Cardinals fullback Terrelle Smith’s mother had a premonition before she died of cancer in December that her son and his teammates would make an improbable NFC title game run, according to the Arizona Republic.
When an aggressive form of breast cancer spread to her brain in April, Smith’s mother told her son that he was headed to the playoffs.  Her prediction played out as the surprisingly resurgent Cardinals are set to play the Philadelphia Eagles for the right to represent the NFC in the Super Bowl.
“Doctors say sometimes they get delusional and, at times, we thought she was,” Smith said. “But now it lines up. It makes sense, and it tells me what to fight for every week.”
Smith’s father died four years ago, and the big lead blocker has dedicated Sunday’s pivotal contest to the memory of both of his parents.
“I’m keeping a positive out of something that could devastate you badly,” Smith said.

Well that’s awesome. I was rooting for the Cardinals before I read this because I like the underdog, but this adds more to my cheering.

Yet another reason to cheer for the Cardinals
Unless your are a fan of the other 3 teams. I don’t see why anyone would not root for these guys.
Like last year I couldn’t see anyone but us PATS fans rooting for the PATS.
Steelers- Pain in the ass fans (Although there are many on this board I like ie Pea Tear Griffin and Mistress Rachel amongst a few)
Ravens- Ray Lewis (Should be in jail)
Eagles- You got your championship stop being greedy, like us current and former(like me) bostonians.

I am deeply saddened for Smith, as cancer has tragically touched my family as well…..But what the hell does this have to do with football?? Florio do you right for the national Enquirer on the side???

Did she say anything about investment strategies?

  10. brusta2002 says: Jan 13, 2009 12:06 PM

At least she didn’t say Super Bowl! Go Eagles!!

If I’m not mistaken, didn’t Larry Fitzgerold’s mother also pass away from cancer? I was thinking he did charitable work for her foundation.

    Whatever it takes, Terrelle.
Los Angeles Times writer, then with The Rocky Mountain News, T. J. Simers once said, “You want respect? Win a game you should. You want more respect? Win a game you shouldn’t”. The Arizona Cardinals — yes — The Arizona Cardinals didn’t just “win” a game they weren’t supposed to. They beat up the Carolina Panthers. Beat ‘em up!
    You go, girl.

    She said playoffs, not Superbowl.

  14. phillyburdzfan says: Jan 13, 2009 12:30 PM

She would have said Super Bowl run if the Eagles weren’t gonna kick Cardinal a$$ on Sunday

  15. kurtwarnerfumbledagain says: Jan 13, 2009 12:54 PM

    Sad story but go Eagles…..

His father predicted 4 years ago that his mother would predict that Aaron Wilson would post this prediction.

Smith was a class act when he was in Cleveland. A hard hitting throw back-type blocker. I wish him well. He wasn’t going to win anything in Cleveland.
    I hope Pittsburgh chokes.

I feel bad for Smith. Gonna feel worse when the Eagles beat the Cards by 3 touchdowns

    Unintentional hilarity ensues!

this is a sad story; but I can well understand why he would dedicate the victory to his parents. Can’t anyone just be happy for a team that has been miserable for years?

Agreed….and Im an Eagles fan. Hell if the Cards win this weekend and make it to the bowl, I’ll probably root for them to win it all. I just hate cheering against a team that has never been there before. But I bleed green so oh well. Just kinda wish the Eagles were playing against a team that I love to hate. I dunno. I find myself secretly cheering for John Harbaugh’s Ravens too. GO BIRDS!!

  22. texasPHINSfan says: Jan 13, 2009 4:18 PM

i’m rooting for the Cards (nothing against the Eagles, i normally enjoy watching them. It’s just that the Cards are such underdogs in all this & have never been there before as a franchise…. have to wish them well here) & the Steelers (not because i like the Steelers – i really don’t – but because i just HATE the ravens.)
