MARTELLUS APOLOGIZES FOR HIS RAP, WITH A RAP

Cowboys tight end Martellus Bennett recently kicked up a full-blown sh-tstorm with a rap video on YouTube featuring profanity, the word “Romo,” and one of the few words in the English vernacular that rhymes with “Romo.”
Given the reaction, which reportedly might include a fine from the team because Bennett used a Cowboys helmet during the segment, Bennett has acknowledged that he “shouldn’t cuss that much.”
Now, he has apologized.
With a rap.
Yes. A rap.
Enjoy.

Anyone ever play Parappa the Rapper for the Playstation?
    That was a sweet game.
Kick, Punch, it’s all in the mind

Yup. It’s all the media’s fault. Way to go, dude.

There are much bigger things for the Cowboys to worry about than this. As he said, it could’ve been worse, and it really was overblown. Thought it was a smart way to apologize as well. What the Cowboys really should be concerned with, at least in his video, is why his eyes are almost shut and he’s smiling the whole time…looks like he’s been puffing the magic dragon.

Football players should stay away from the internet. No one needs to hear NFL players rap or see little Cooley.

According to the Dallas Morning News Bennett’s fine was $22K — one game check.
    expensive song.

he’s just a kid so i’m not surprised this was how he chose to respond…HOWEVER, he has a point! It wasn’t that big of a deal. so he dropped a few N bombs; last time i checked that was still ok for him…on top of the fact that he’s right, he didn’t shoot anybody, get caught doing drugs (yet), or have a buddy at the “scrip” club with him to shoot other dudes for him…i think its hilarious, and good for him.

and he said in a most indecent way.
This time Marty had a little something to say.
So he said it, now it’s over.
    Just shut up and play!

Wow. I don’t know what’s worse, his rapping ability or his grasp of speaking the English language.

  14. SlipperyPete says: Jan 29, 2009 1:22 PM

Not really an apology. I guess he did kind of apologize to all his fans out there (all 3 of them).

  15. tgoods says: Jan 29, 2009 1:26 PM

Nobody cares what a back up tight end says. By the way…good job decreasing your value in the NFL bro!

“Bennett has acknowledged that he ‘shouldn’t cuss that much.’”
Yeah because the Cowboys have a reputation to uphold.

  17. eTarded77 says: Jan 29, 2009 1:28 PM

Sigh…Rap is music for low IQ people, so what does anyone expect? The hills are alive with the sound of “duh”.

Queue racist comments and Vox standing up for the Cowboy…

  19. titans_fan says: Jan 29, 2009 1:59 PM

  20. Joe 6-pack says: Jan 29, 2009 2:13 PM

While I respect him for his daringness to put his neck out like that. . . it’d be better for everyone if he just stuck to football and laid off the rapping. It don’t work for you, baby

  21. shuxion says: Jan 29, 2009 2:14 PM

    Nobody liked Parappa the rapper…..

Well he can scratch “become a famous MC” off his post NFL possible career list.

  25. Lumas101 says: Jan 29, 2009 2:38 PM

Took him over a minute to say anything that was even close to an apology. Before that it was only “it was just a song/ I didn’t do nothing wrong”. He makes a good point though that there are a lot of worse things he could have done (although I didn’t actually listen to the rap so maybe what he said was worse than I thought). Still not an apology, though.

  28. Jackson1 says: Jan 29, 2009 3:12 PM

I’m ready for that kid to accept responsibility for being a dumbass. he’s blamed everyone but himself for problems he’s had aside from this issue.
I mean………how stupid can you be to post a youtube link with you making a fool of yourself while wearing a Cowboys logo?
I guess they teach stupid at Texas A&M

  29. jeff303 says: Jan 29, 2009 3:21 PM

I’d like to see a battle of the minds between Martellus and a flea. And if it ever happens, I’m betting my house on the flea.

Well the one good thing about being an aspiring rapper who catches passes from Tony Romo…you’ll always have plenty of time in the offseason to hit the studio.

Why is it OK for him?
The Black community makes a big deal anytime a white guy says something they deem as racist, but a black guy drops the N bomb a few dozen times and it’s OK? WTF?

  34. clint taurus says: Jan 29, 2009 3:59 PM

as terrible as his rapping was, it was about on par with LiL Wayne and 50stench…
what’s worse…the current state of the Cowboys organization or the current state of hip hop?

  35. finsbooyah says: Jan 29, 2009 4:13 PM

    shuxion…
I remember Pa rappa… That post had me laughing out loud and my co-workers were looking at me funny… Just wanted to let you know that someone in the PFT planet appreciated it

  36. woody26 says: Jan 29, 2009 4:45 PM

    Shuxion,
    I hear ya on Parappa.
Don’t get cocky, it’s gonna get rocky. Actually, a pretty applicable warning for Bennett here.

  37. favrewillplay4ever says: Jan 29, 2009 6:24 PM

people need to lay off the kid here on this one. he swore. big deal. john f–king gruden did it every day on the job. everytime bill cowher looked at someone, he was practically swearing. less i forgot, he does have the FREEDOM OF SPEECH. i do not use the n word and, i am offended when i hear people use it, but people went way overboard on this one. it is all part of the pussification of america. uh oh, he said a bad word. lets all cry and tell on him so he gets a fricking timeout. what ever happened to “sticks and stones” people? he is an american. he had alot more to say than many of you on here do. if he weren’t a cowboy, you have to believe it wouldn’t have even made the news. how can you people bitch about him in a “rap” video when no one says shit about how cris carter talks about killing people?

  38. titans_fan says: Jan 29, 2009 8:23 PM

“…less i forgot, he does have the FREEDOM OF SPEECH.”
I love it when f-cktards bring up Constitutional rights as if it applies to everyday life… as if an 18 year old high school student can carry a gun to school because he has the “right to bear arms.”
There’s a difference between Constitutional rights and rules as an employee. And don’t get me started on just plain decency…

  39. steelersIA says: Jan 29, 2009 10:42 PM

    How Bout’ Them COWBOYS!!!
Now that that’s out of the way…
Farvewillplay, he does have his freedom of speech. What does that have to do with anything? Did the government throw him in jail for this? No. Then freedom of speech doesn’t need to be discussed. Go call your boss a DB, and if he fires you, cry “Freedom of Speech!!!”. See how far that gets you.
As to the fact that he didn’t shoot anyone, didn’t get caught using drugs, or do anything illegal. So as long as your not breaking laws, anything is acceptable behaviour? Again, are there things you can say and do at work that aren’t illegal, but would get you fired or in deep trouble? Of course. That’s what’s happening here.

  40. Darth Ringo says: Jan 30, 2009 12:54 AM

To paraphrase Chris Rock (hope he doesn’t mind), you’re not SUPPOSED to use drugs or shoot people or do anything illegal. You don’t get extra credit for not doing it!

  41. thekov says: Jan 30, 2009 10:30 AM

I’m sorry the whole episode makes me like him. You have to have some sand to follow up that first rap with another one. It takes a level of guile that most people do not have.

  42. NightTrainWooWoo says: Jan 30, 2009 12:14 PM

That dude raps like he just woke up. Set your alarm for a half hour earlier next time.

  43. rusH1023 says: Jun 1, 2009 2:13 PM

If he’s gonna try to rap, he should probably get good at it first. I’ve never tried to write a rap song before, but I’m pretty sure I could do a better job.
