Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger declined to comment on our report that he recently underwent an X-ray on his back.
And all that that implies.
At a Thursday press conference, Gregg Rosenthal of NBCSports.com and Rotoworld.com asked Ben if he cared to comment.
“Nope,” Roethlisberger said.
Rosenthal then asked if there was any truth to the report.
“Didn’t you just ask me if I was going to comment on that?” Roethlisberger replied, laughing.
In response to further questions from Rosenthal, which came after a short pause during which Roethsliberger apparently scanned the room with his eyes in the hopes that a different line of questioning would emerge, Roethlisberger said that his back was “fine” after the AFC title game.
As to whether there have been any lingering issues with the injury, Roethlisberger said, “Not that I know of.”
Rosenthal also points out that Roethlisberger was ten minutes late for the press conference, and Rosenthal speculates that the quarterback possibly was being prepped for the possible line of questioning.
Though we might be too close to this one because we initially reported it, we’re inclined to interpret Roethlisberger’s refusal to comment on the report — including his refusal to deny that an X-ray occurred — as implicit confirmation that he indeed underwent an X-ray on Wednesday.
And all that that implies.

likely just a precaution.
but if they have to play leftwich for more than a few snaps… disaster.
Told you all, he had a Z-Ray
DRAMA QUEEN
The simple fact is that unless and until the Steelers get Ben some protection his career will not be long in duration. It does not matter who the QB is behind the O-Line the Steelers have that level of weekly beatings has to be taking it’s toll. I doubt any other QB could have survived this season in Pittsburgh.
hey Nemesis…why don’t you provide a detailed explination of your assertation instead of just talking out of your ass…even if it is located on your neck.
idiot.

Hey moron, get a clue. The DRAMA QUEEN reference is a running joke on this site in reference to one of Florio’s posts referring to Ed Werder’s report on Big Ben

You = EPIC FAIL
Now why don’t you remove that sand from your vagina before you get a rash

explination? assertation? My ass is on my neck?
Emmitt Smith is that you?
YOU = FAIL
wow the steeler’s girls getting riled up pretty quickly around here.
and roethlisberger is a dramam queen with his constant…”i dont want to talk about it” wahhhh.
Umm, I believe this is the opposite of being a drama queen… A drama queen would come out saying i just got out of the x-ray, it hurts so bad, if i play bad that is why, he would probably have his arm in a sling (shot at Suggs) and he would likely bring up the report not diffuse questions about it. Steelers haters in the house!!! I love it GO STILLERS!!
Ever notice how any injury that’s remotely connected to Ben’s head or spine is treated with a lot of caution – for example his “concussion” when they played the Browns? And now this? I’m thinking his motorcycle accident was way more serious – and far reaching – than will ever be admitted to. His o-line isn’t helping either. Here’s to the Cardinals!
NEMESIS=IDIOT
It shouldn’t matter at all that he got x-rays. If he can walk, he’ll play. End of story.
So how many picks will Leftwich toss on Sunday?
Rating: 1.8 / 5 with 5 rating(s)
get a sense of humor Steeler fans.
Yep, just as I said. The media comes up with this stuff, Ben won’t comment, they bug him some more, Ben won’t comment. Uh, Ben, could you comment? “Guys, please leave me alone.”
Wow — what a drama queen!
And could this be any more hilarious?
“Though we might be too close to this one because we initially reported it, we’re inclined to interpret Roethlisberger’s refusal to comment on the report — including his refusal to deny that an X-ray occurred — as implicit confirmation that he indeed underwent an X-ray on Wednesday.”
Uh, Joe Shmoe answered “no comment” when he was asked if he killed that puppy — by refusing to comment on the subject, it’s confirmed Joe is a puppy killer! Brilliant!
Oh and nice use of the big red type there on the front page… is it me, or is this the largest font size ever used on PFT?
Awww poor Ben got turf burn on his hoo-hoo. Maybe Whines Hard can smile it back to health.
I can hear the excuses already when the Cards prevail
It’s a little ridiculous to take credit for any of the “reporting” on this site, when you completely ignore the “reporting” that is completely, utterly wrong.
lol punk got punk’d
“The simple fact is that unless and until the Steelers get Ben some protection his career will not be long in duration”
No, the simple fact is that as long as Ben holds the ball forever, he’s going to continue to get beat like a rag doll.
The fact is that he’s not the kind of QB that can run a timing offense. What he does is drop back, wait for the play to break down, shrug off a tackler, roll to wherever the pressure came from, and hit a receiver who found a hole in the coverage after the play broke down.
It’s what he does, and I don’t think he’d be even a decent QB if you asked him to play a timing-style offense. His style requires him to get hit, just the way it is.
He should get an xray of his head. The results would be “simple” to understand.
What does it imply? That he had an x-ray?
No real story here.
If Big Ben is hurt before or during the game, the Stillers will simply plug in our second franchise QB (doesn’t every team have two?) and move on.
Nemesis is correct.
DRAMA QUEEN!!!!!!
Gums Suggs suggests that Ben use a sling, to get more sympathy.
This was the direct result of a typical Ravens flagrant cheap shot, that their marvelous, wonderful fans say that they NEVER do…no, no, no…Ray wasn’t around at that murder, he was just in an orange jumpsuit cuz he liked the colors…no, no, no Ed Reed wasn’t trying to rip all of Chris Johnson’s abdominal muscles and twist his head off after the whistle blew, no, wasn’t him, he’s a freaking angel, a wonderful guy.
Model Citizen, Ed Reed.
florio4prez, did you really just call Leftwich a franchise QB? Seriously? Ask the Jags about that one.
5 seasons. 3 AFC Championship games. 2 Superbowl appearances.
I’m sure Steeler fans aren’t too worried about you guys calling Roethlisberger a “Drama Queen.”
DRAMA QUEEN. What do you want to bet that Ben or his agent leaked the fact that he had an X-Ray to the press. This seems to happen with all his “injuries”. Tomlin probably didn’t even know he had one.
Florio knows a post like this will bring all the Steeler haters out.
I love how Florio’s only linkable sources on the big “Ben gets an X-ray debacle” are his own stories…way to maintain credibility lol.
