WOOTEN SAYS CHIEFS HAVE INTERVIEWED MINORITY CANDIDATES

On Wednesday, a publication focusing on the Chiefs reported that owner Clark Hunt had said that the team has complied with the Rooney Rule by interviewing at least one minority candidate.
The publication in question then acknowledged that, in reality, Hunt had said no such thing.
But, as it turns out, if Hunt had said that the Chiefs had complied with the Rooney Rule, Hunt would have been speaking the truth.
According to the Associated Press, Fritz Pollard Alliance chairman John Wooten said that he’s personally aware of “several minorities” who have interviewed with Chiefs G.M. Scott Pioli for the team’s head-coaching position.
Wooten declined to name the minority candidates who have interviewed for the job.
The Rooney Rules requires at least one minority candidate to be interviewed for each head-coaching vacancy.

Florio, you seem to be obsessed with the rooney rule……or is it that you’re race baiting knowing that all the poor underprivileged white dudes online will give you a bunch of hits and comments…..hmmmmmmmm……
here’s a thought florio….if every time a black coach gets an interview and you and your clan say its just because of the rooney rule then all that does is reinforce the need for the rooney rule. if thats the only way a black coach gets a chance in all of you all’s eyes.
here something you can do. we can call it the FLORIO AMENDMENT TO THE ROONEY RULE. send to to dictator goddell
from here on, all teams are required to interview at least one minorty and one non minority candidate!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    “Hi, Art, I’m Scott Pioli.”
“Hi, Scott, Art Shell. My body of work speaks for itself.”
“Fired by the Raiders twice? It certainly does. Well, thanks for interviewing. Could you guys please show Mr. Shell the door? Oh, and tell my assistant to send Todd Haley in. I want to discuss offensive coordinators with him.”

Minority = victim = getting something you didn’t earn.
That’s the definition by today’s current standards, not those that were in fact true several decades ago.
And I believe that’s Florio’s stance on it, as well as a large contingent of the online sportstalk community and NFL smartfans, though must are or have to be too politically correct to say that in that fashion.
Have no fear, Hoover is here.

Underprivileged white dudes? You are just as racist for leaving this comment. Give it up slavery happened a long long time ago. Everyone has equal rights so why do we now need special rules for minorities? I am tired of minorities thinking that they are owed something. We live in America and we are supposed to be equal so why do we need to have special rules for minorities??

  8. KramersPalLomez says: Feb 5, 2009 8:50 PM

Several? The CIA has nothing on Scott Pioli.

  9. brian_21 says: Feb 5, 2009 8:56 PM

I was in line at McDonalds behind Mr. Pioli and I personally heard him mention the hiring process to the guy taking his order.

Of course they’ve interviewed minority candidates. You’re a minority for wanting to work for Pioli and coach the Chefs

what exactly is their meaning of “minority”? if they said by interviewing ron rivera for steelers job when they hired tomlin, do they mean non-anglo-saxon(white)?
what exactly is the nfl’s definition of minority?
white but hispanic language heritage? any non-anglo saxon caucasian? a russian? a canadian? an italian heritage?
aren’t whites now the “minority” of players??

Ron Rivera does count for meeting the Rooney-Rule obligation. When he was a hot commodity, some team interviewed him and met their obligation to the Rooney Rule… I think it was with the Chargers after they got rid of Marty Schottenheimer…

So if your heritage is from Spain in Europe it counts? What about if your heritage is from Sweden, France, Serbia, Russia, Scotland, Germany, Italy , etc. or any other European country?

Is it a rule that when you fire an African American then you have to hire another one to replace him? Or do you just have to interview them for the job of Head Coach? It seems that it is so confusing to NFL Team Executives about what they should do. Poili either interview an AA or he did not interview an AA. Let’s have an answer.

Everyone involved in this debate is an “assclown” whitlock. Who cares if the Rooney Rule was followed. Chiefs fans will just wait to see who their next head coach is. Pioli knows who he wants and I’am sure he will slide a minority in there to make sure the rules are followed. I’d rather talk about L.J. and Tony G. Starting to read your articles more here in KC Whitlock. I hated your columns in the past but getting more used to your style now and I can pull some good out of em.

Hey jacqazz all they are required is to give an INTERVIEW. a chance not a job.
and brian i think you’re an idiot too for not seeing the point of my post.
gotta love white people and their “There is no racism anymore”
“Black just want something for free” that in itself is racist a mentality!!!!!!!!!!!!!
    IDIOT DEVILS

  20. F00kFl0ri0 says: Feb 5, 2009 11:31 PM

    The Q-man,
No NFL executive is confused about who is and isn’t a minority, it’s only certain NFL fans who are riled up about a minority being interviewed….

  21. brian_21 says: Feb 6, 2009 4:12 AM

Yuuup. And Obama is president! Wooooo hoooo racists, you go bye bye! And Republicans, you too. Now it’s our turn. And you’ll see how much better we are. Like under Bill Clinton’s 68% approval rating. Or Obama’s genius. You guys be happy with Hoover, Bush, and Bush. You dummies.

Yes, he is of another of the minorities! Neither just from one or the other “majorities”.
What exactly is the NFL’s definition of “minority” in this so-called Rooney Rule?

  23. empty13 says: Feb 6, 2009 8:52 AM

hoover’s problem was that he tried all the stuff fdr would try, with the same results. but a democratic congress didnt “turn” on fdr.
it didnt work when fdr tried all that crap either. so fdr turned his attention toward driving other countries into war.
anyone who tries to say fdr, wilson or lincoln were good… no. they were all evil. bush, clinton, bush and obama are more of the same.
    ///////////////////////
if anyone thinks that white people will be able to use any of these “minority laws” or “rooney rules” if whites ever became a minority, guess again.
so, burn the rooney rule. slavery has long been over. everyone is “free”. now go fend for yourself. the gummint doesnt fend for me and you dont “need” it to fend for you.
as an aside, blacks commit virtually all interracial crime between blacks and whites (and just so you know, that is counting hispanic victims as whites, also). blacks dont have any room talking about racism. look what they do when they are in charge, or think they wont get caught. zimbabwe, south africa, haiti…

Technically, anyone can be a minority. If they interview someone who is quite old, they are in an age minority. If they are Morman, they could be considered a religious minority. Gay, minority. Disabled, minority. Irish, minority….
The list goes on and on . . .

exactly and that is the point i’m trying to make. the nfl knows full well it is discrimination on their part to ONLY ensure that one single minority gets an interview for all jobs. so they don’t state what they really mean and instead use a very confusing word -“minority” in these cases.

I’ve looked online, but I cannot find the actual language of the Rooney Rule. Maybe Florio can post it. This has been a pretty big topic since the season ended.
