Heinekenfun has had too much fun with Heineken. Or with someones heine.
Based on this statement, I believe you are a tennis fan first, and a football fan fifth:
"Pay Culpepper $2.5 Million because they have no other options?
Better options in Detroit are as follows: Kurt Warner, Matt Cassel, Kerry Collins, Jeff Garcia, Rex Grossman, Kyle Boller, Charlie Batch, David Carr, Ryan Fitzpatrick Byron Leftwich, J.P. Losman, J.T. O’Sullivan Patrick Ramsey and if all else fails…., Dan Orlovsky"
Kurt Warner - not a free agent yet, if at all
Matt Cassel - not worth the picks vs what DC costs
Kerry Collins - the new Trent Dilfer
Jeff Garcia - I'll give you this one - free agent at no cost
Rex Grossman - you're drunk
Kyle Boller - you're drunker
Charlie Batch - seriously? no, seriously?
David Carr - even odds
Ryan Fitzpatrick - you're still drunk, or drunker
Byron Leftwich - fair enough
J.P. Losman - nope
J.T. O’Sullivan - overall track record nowhere close to DC
Patrick Ramsey - speaking of DC, but this time as in District of Columbia, nope.
Dan Orlovsky - shame on you
I rest my case of beer. Until tomorrow.

All this really does is save some cap money. If they have ANY plans for Culpepper they will draft a OT or Crabtree with the first pick and maybe take Freeman with 20th pick or first pick in 2nd round.
If they were to take Crabtree that could be a fun offense to watch with Culpepper tossing it up to Johnson and Crabtree, provided he had any time to throw it.

As someone who has actually watched Culpepper play in the Metrodome and in training camp for Vikings, I think it’s a great move. By the way, To Heinekenfun: Culpepper has a better career record than all those QB’s you rattled off except perhaps Warner. He should be allowed to compete for starting spot. Since he was injured (and rushed back too quickly), he has not had the benefit of good coaching and being in a consistent system for more than one year. Linehan knows his strengths and weaknesses and has gotten great results working with Pepp. Check out the Oakland/Miami game in 2007 when Culpepper had 5 TD’s. He also is a career leader in rushing TD’s. He’s very accurate and has a great long ball. Culpepper to CJ has already been great and can be even better with benefit of OTA’s and training camp. Good luck, Pepp!

This has got to be a joke.

pullpecker played on some awful talented minnehaha teams, at least on the o side.
he might have been .500 with moss. he is like 5-17 without moss. moss made him. moss is damn good. chauncey sucks.
chauncey pullpecker blows chunks. fumbler. doesnt read defenses. just throws up street balls and begs for moss/megatron to bail him out. and he cant move anymore either.
of these previously listed QBs...Kurt Warner, Matt Cassel, Kerry Collins, Jeff Garcia, Rex Grossman, Kyle Boller, Charlie Batch, David Carr, Ryan Fitzpatrick, Byron Leftwich, J.P. Losman, J.T. O’Sullivan Patrick Ramsey, Dan Orlovsky... i would clearly take warner, cassel, collins, garcia, batch, fitzpatrick, ramsey and orlovsky (he outplayed chauncey last year) over pullpecker. the others are even with chauncey imho.

Fumblepepper sucks and will not be on the Lions roster at the begining of the season...unless there is an injury.
The Lions cannot afford to take the "Worst Starting QB in the League label away from the vikings.
Out of all the free agents at QB why sign this turnover king??
It's not like anyone else would sign him. Look how long he was out of football last year!!
Lions screwed up again.

Here is why they want him to stay. They remember the days that Culpepper just threw deep balls to a guy named randy moss. Then threw corner routes to that guy named randy moss, and another guy named cris carter. If I remember myself culpepper was not too bad at that. So with the a guy named calvin johnson on the team they are hoping the old daunte will magically come back in a lions uniform.

its pretty sad that one of the only smart things they've managed to pull of in the recent years involves taking advantage of,for lack of better terms, a moron.
yah cuz not having an agent shows you have brains. instead of hiring someone to deal with happenings beyond your comprehension you decide to take the bull by the horns...and walk it off a cliff. this would be like a major league manager pinch hitting with him as the hitter.
my god even randolph lerner thinks this guy is a dumbass.

Why rework his contract? What difference does it make if they pay him the roster bonus or not? With their talent, I find it hard to believe they have any more than $10 million committed to salaries for next season.
Or is that they problem? They don't want to be paying one player 25% of their payroll?

Pay Culpepper $2.5 Million because they have no other options?
Please Florio.., give me a King-Sized break. Better options in Detroit are as follows: Kurt Warner, Matt Cassel, Kerry Collins, Jeff Garcia, Rex Grossman, Kyle Boller, Charlie Batch, David Carr, Ryan Fitzpatrick Byron Leftwich, J.P. Losman, J.T. O'Sullivan Patrick Ramsey and if all else fails…., Dan Orlovsky,
I'll give Dante Culpepper the nice guy award for trying real hard n' stuff, but he just doesn't have it to be the #1 QB for any team in this great NFL of ours.

Oh yeah! He's definately going to be the starter! 2.5 mil bonus needed to be restructured??? If not will cut you! They're just clearing the deck for the real Qb they're going to get!
The Furrey story is still on sportingnews.com....Come on Mike!
Schwartz already debackled that story. This just confirms it!

Maybe, if push had come to shove, the Lions would have paid the money. Really, what other options do they have at quarterback?
They have plenty of options better than Pullpecker, that's for sure. The mere fact the Lions are even bringing him back for 2009 tells me that the current regime is not much smarter than the previous.
If this continues, the Lions will take away the worst starting QB label from the Vikings.

Pullpecker the agent has an idiot for a client.
Smacked around by the lions!
They can lose as many games without him as they can with him. Migtht as well do it for less $.
