All this really does is save some cap money. If they have ANY plans for Culpepper they will draft a OT or Crabtree with the first pick and maybe take Freeman with 20th pick or first pick in 2nd round.
If they were to take Crabtree that could be a fun offense to watch with Culpepper tossing it up to Johnson and Crabtree, provided he had any time to throw it.

pullpecker played on some awful talented minnehaha teams, at least on the o side.
he might have been .500 with moss. he is like 5-17 without moss. moss made him. moss is damn good. chauncey sucks.
chauncey pullpecker blows chunks. fumbler. doesnt read defenses. just throws up street balls and begs for moss/megatron to bail him out. and he cant move anymore either.
of these previously listed QBs…Kurt Warner, Matt Cassel, Kerry Collins, Jeff Garcia, Rex Grossman, Kyle Boller, Charlie Batch, David Carr, Ryan Fitzpatrick, Byron Leftwich, J.P. Losman, J.T. O’Sullivan Patrick Ramsey, Dan Orlovsky… i would clearly take warner, cassel, collins, garcia, batch, fitzpatrick, ramsey and orlovsky (he outplayed chauncey last year) over pullpecker. the others are even with chauncey imho.

Fumblepepper sucks and will not be on the Lions roster at the begining of the season…unless there is an injury.
The Lions cannot afford to take the “Worst Starting QB in the League label away from the vikings.
Out of all the free agents at QB why sign this turnover king??
It’s not like anyone else would sign him. Look how long he was out of football last year!!

Here is why they want him to stay. They remember the days that Culpepper just threw deep balls to a guy named randy moss. Then threw corner routes to that guy named randy moss, and another guy named cris carter. If I remember myself culpepper was not too bad at that. So with the a guy named calvin johnson on the team they are hoping the old daunte will magically come back in a lions uniform.

Culpepper is the biggest idoit, and is costing himself millions in the process. Instead of paying a qualified agent a mere 3% to represent him, and get the best contract. He elects to represent himself and lose millions. Just brilliant!

Why rework his contract? What difference does it make if they pay him the roster bonus or not? With their talent, I find it hard to believe they have any more than $10 million committed to salaries for next season.
Or is that they problem? They don’t want to be paying one player 25% of their payroll?

They have plenty of options better than Pullpecker, that’s for sure. The mere fact the Lions are even bringing him back for 2009 tells me that the current regime is not much smarter than the previous.
If this continues, the Lions will take away the worst starting QB label from the Vikings.
