TEXANS GOING DEFENSE IN FIRST ROUND?

The Houston Texans are likely to go for a defensive player with the 15th overall pick, according to John McClain of the Houston Chronicle.
Per the article, the Texans are likely to go for an outside linebacker or a defensive tackle.
USC outside linebacker Clay Matthews and Ole Miss defensive tackle Peria Jerry are two possibilities.
Matthews, who was a 166-pound safety in high school and walked on at USC, ran the 40-yard dash in 4.62 seconds at the NFL scouting combine.
Jerry, listed at 6-foot-2, 299 pounds, is known for his quickness and ability to penetrate the backfield.

  1. “…known for his quickness and ability to penetrate the backfield” ?
is this a carry over from the Zendejas article above?

  2. 4.62 is pretty average for a OLB these days, nothing to get hot and bothered over…that’s just my opinion

  3. Agree with John’s speculation on Defence at # 15. Charger could look DL at # 16.
From # 17 through # 22 the need points to Offense.
    New York Jets QB, WR
    Chicago OT, WR
    Tampa Bay QB, DT
Detroit (from Dallas) OT, or WR
    Philadelphia OT
    Minnesota OT,WR
Both Patriot and Falcon are expected to go Defense at #23 and #24.
Pattern suggests there could be some pick swapping among these selections. Texan could save by moving down to #21 or #22. If Sanchez/Maclin on the board some team could move up ahead of Jet

  4. Texans going defense in first round?
Lets see their offense was #3 in the league, defense was #28
How about Texans going defense with pretty much every pick?
Unless by some crazy chance Bj Raji is there, Texans will take one of the top OLBs Cushing or Matthews

  5. Texans should definitely look at Vontae Davis if he is there, I see a trade down into the 21-24 pick range, especially if Sanchez is available at 15. They looked really good last year turning the 18 pick into Duane Brown and Steve Slaton, I see them trying to recreate this magic.
