BROWNS SIGN BOWENS

The Cleveland Browns announced tonight that they have signed unrestricted free agent linebacker David Bowens, a transaction first reported by Dave Hutchinson of the Newark Star-Ledger. It’s a four-year, $7.2 million deal, per Hutchinson. “David is another example of the emphasis that we place on toughness, leadership and versatility,” Browns General Manager George Kokinis said in a statement. “He has played inside and outside linebacker and has been a core special teams player throughout his career.” In just five starts last season with the Jets, Bowens recorded 40 tackles, four sacks, one interception and two forced fumbles. Bowen has previous stints with the Miami Dolphins, Washington Redskins, Green Bay Packers and Denver Broncos. He has 32 1/2 career sacks.
