MICHAEL JOHNSON TO VISIT FOUR TEAMS

Georgia Tech defensive end Michael Johnson, a potential first-round draft pick, has set up private workouts/visits with the Atlanta Falcons, Washington Redskins, Cleveland Browns, and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, according to a league source.
Johnson is scheduled to visit the Buccaneers on April 2, the Redskins on April 4, the Browns on April 8, and the Falcons on Monday.
At 6-foot-6, 266 pounds, Johnson is a tall, lanky pass rusher who registered nine sacks and 17.5 tackles for loss last season.  He also was named to the All-Atlantic Coast Conference team, and he was a finalist for the Bednarik and Hendricks awards.
According to a league source, the Green Bay Packers are high on Johnson.
The Cincinnati Bengals were well-represented at Johnson’s Pro Day.

Does this mean more than one person or was that scout actually paying attention this time?

i dont think the bucs need another tall lanky pass rusher in the first round again until we find out if gaines adams is a bust or not.

As a Packers fan I’m really skeptical on Johnson. He’d be used as an WOLB most likely. I’d much rather just see what Jeremy Thompson can do at 6’4″ 270.

jam412 – post of the year.
The Bengals do not need a DE with Gaithers and Odom signed to decent sized contracts. I know, everyone will say they suck, but with no DT to free them up, they won’t do well no matter who your bring in at DE. I think this is a smokescreen by the Bengals to get someone to trade up a few and push one of those OT’s down the board. I would be estatic if Monroe fell to them.
Of course, scouts in Bengal-land means assistant coaches.

Not Michael Johnson, the 100-metre dash sprinter?

A tall lanky pass rush specialist who has scouts concerned about his passion and work-ethic… Sounds alot like Jason Taylor to me.

Heard ABC is already scouting Johnson as their next NFL representative in “Dancing with the Alleged Stars,” so your assessment of him fitting the Jason Taylor mold is a good one. Florio, maybe you could get the scoop on that story?

What about the Cheapago Bears ???

tampa would be foolish to draft a d-end in the first round. their problems are at D-tackle, if they could find someone to blow things up in the middle, Gaines will be just fine.

    Bucs fans worried about Johnson:
THis guy is a pass rushing dynamo. The biggest things the Bucs need is a pass rush and Johnson would immediately provide that. Gaines Adams has and could easily play LDE wi Johnson playing the right side.

    Dear Brasho,
Where ever you comment, I find idiocracy…seriously??? Johnson is the same guy as Adams…You remember what happened to Simeon Rice, once Sapp left…Ends are as only good as their interior tackles…surely you must know this from your extensive knowledge of playing football.
