BUCS SIGN CROWELL

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have continued their post-Derrick Brooks reclamation project by signing veteran linebacker Angelo Crowell. The team announced the move earlier today. Crowell, who spent his entire career with the Bills, was surprisingly placed on injured reserve last August after word broke that he needed knee surgery. The prior year, Crowell was a team captain. In 2007, Crowell had 140 tackles, and he was the only linebacker to register a safety, sack, interception, forced fumble, and fumble recovery. According to our friends at Pewter Report, Crowell will compete for the starting job at strong side linebacker. Safety Jermaine Phillips will compete for the starting gig on the weak side, the spot that Brooks held down for more than a decade.
