INTEREST PICKING UP FOR MICKENS

University of Cincinnati cornerback Mike Mickens had a private workout last week for Miami Dolphins defensive coordinator Paul Pasqualoni, according to Ed Thompson of Scout.com. An All-Big East Conference selection who also garnered All-American notice, Mickens is scheduled for a private workout with the St. Louis Rams on March 28 and has an official visit set up with the Philadelphia Eagles next month. Mickens is regarded as 85-percent recovered from a left knee injury that rendered him unable to work out at the NFL Scouting Combine. He underwent arthroscopic knee surgery in November. Despite the knee injury, Mickens has run the 40-yard dash in 4.53 seconds, registering a 35.5-inch vertical leap and 9'10" broad jump. Mickens is the Bearcats’ all-time leader with 14 interceptions, returning three for touchdowns. He has consistently drawn second-round grades, but his knee injury is drawing scrutiny from NFL teams.
