Eagles Eyeballing Other Boldin

In 2003, former Florida State receiver Anquan Boldin plunged to the second round of the draft. In hindsight, he was one of the best players to emerge from college that year. Six years later, his younger brother is preparing to enter the NFL, but with less impressive pre-draft credentials. D.J. Boldin, a wideout at Wake Forest, wasn’t invited to the Scouting Combine. But it hasn’t kept him from getting attention. Per a league source, Boldin already has had a private workout with the Eagles, and a visit to the Lions. The 211-pounder plays like his big brother -- big and strong and physical. He ran the 40-yard dash in 4.55 seconds at his March 23 Pro Day, faster than scouts expected. Boldin led the ACC with 77 receptions in 2008, more than North Carolina’s Hakeem Nicks. It was a huge increase for Boldin, who caught only 11 passes in 2007 after missing the entire 2006 season for academic reasons. Philly’s interest in Boldin is intriguing, to say the least. If they use a late-round pick on Anquan’s not-so-little brother, the Eagles could be laying the foundation for an eventual effort to to put the two men on the same team.
