Raiders Actually Interested In Ochocinco?

Notwithstanding a worthlessly bogus item on bleacherreport.com indicating that the Bengals already have traded receiver Chad Ochocinco to the Raiders for running back Michael Bush and a second-round draft pick, there actually is a belief in league circles that the Raiders have some interest in the player formerly known as Chad Johnson.
It currently isn’t known whether any talks have occurred between the Raiders and Bengals.
It remains to be seen whether the Bengals would trade him, especially since they could have gotten as much as two first-round draft picks last year from the Redskins for him.
That said, Jason Cole of Yahoo! Sports recently reported that the Bengals might be ready to move the veteran wideout, in the same offseason that teammate T.J. Houshmandzadeh bolted via free agency for Seattle.
Meanwhile, James Walker of ESPN.com reports that Ochocinco will lose a $250,000 bonus by not participating in voluntary offseason workouts.

That screeching, metal-on-metal sound you hear is Reebok flipping the OFF switch on production of Ocho Cinco Bengals jerseys.
So what if he does go to the Raiders, and he can’t get #85, will he still keep his name as Ocho Cinco?

  7. myusernamestinks says: Apr 5, 2009 8:56 PM

Stinko’s worth to the Redskins last year doesn’t bear on his current value. Crazy Al will piss away a high first on a second round reach before he gives 2 ones for Chad. A 2 and Bush isn’t even a good deal. Oakland could use a veteran receiver, but that’s a young team, and the last thing they need is a talent-starved entertainer with downfield skills.

A Patriots Uniform. With the number of picks NE has and his potential to lock Brady in for 70 TDs, defensive coordinators might as well give up.

I’ll ask the obvious … how do you lose $250K for not going to VOLUNTARY workouts?
And trade him to CHI so my fantasy QB has someone to throw to.

  12. ILikePie says: Apr 5, 2009 9:20 PM

The Raiders were getting thin in turds on the roster so could be true. Gotta have something to distract from the fact that they suck

  13. Rasputin says: Apr 5, 2009 9:22 PM

OC is just the kind of mature, stable, well-adjusted individual that Jerry Jones likes to have around. If Al don’t want him, then this big D-bag may have a home in Big D.

Just dropping in for the obligatory verbal beat down of the developmentally challenged circus many of us know as RaiderNation…Anyway,Ill keep it simple…Here it goes… You guys are still stupid.
Wow I feel much better. Now that weve taken care of that you can go ahead and commence with being delusional.
At least Lions fans know that their Out of control Flaming Freight Train of a Team sucks.
The Panty Raiders like a below .500 version of the Redskins. Try focusing on drafting better and spend less time on Free agency and acquiring MANIACS. And if you cant handle that at least try to get a player who isnt past his prime. FOR GOD’S SAKE SHOW SOME PRIDE…And tuck in your shirt you look like a slob.

hahahaa see what I did there

  20. b5whodeynation says: Apr 5, 2009 10:12 PM

I agree with NGDOC.Please get this piece of shit out my Cincinnati. We don’t need em, let’s trade for depth at another position. With coles, Henry and the other young receivers its time to move on from this dude.

  21. Jmoney7 says: Apr 5, 2009 10:21 PM

When will Oakland learn that you can’t throw to recievers unless there is protection.. Randy Moss was there and how well did he do??? Ocho Cinco would be just as ineffective… OAK should worry about more pressing issues, such as PROTECTING THE QB.. At the same time, Russel is Rohan Davey reincarnated.. He stinks! OAK needs to draft a real QB in round 3-5 and hope they get a gem while also drafting the proper protection that QB needs… wideout should be focused on after this..

  22. ScootyPuffJunior says: Apr 5, 2009 10:29 PM

  28. GoodByeSham says: Apr 5, 2009 11:45 PM

Its been awhile since we’ve read anything about Jay Cutler.
    What do you know, Florio?
Raiders? No one cares about the Raiders. Well, maybe cell blocks B & C and possibly E. But thats about it.

  29. indyaudioguy says: Apr 5, 2009 11:51 PM

Leave ocho alone, Florio. Chad will stay in Cinci and catch 80 balls for 1300 yards and 12 TDs this year. Sometimes he talks too much and he is emotional, but those emotions are what makes him great on the field. Last year, he toned down the personality, and the production went with it. (Fitzpatrick and the O-line helped, of course.) Mike Brown loves Chad, and the kids can play. Stay in stripes, Chad, and catch the damned ball! 9 to 85 = 6

  30. crise40g says: Apr 6, 2009 12:12 AM

I hope Al and Cable aren’t even considering 85. That would be really stupid. Bush and a second? Puh-lease. Maybe Fargas and a fourth.
    This story=Bogus!

  31. RedskinPete says: Apr 6, 2009 12:12 AM

I am so glad we didnt get him last year, but as far as all the Haters who always seem to get a laugh out of all of our offseason moves, you wish you had a owner who at least, truely, wants to win a superbowl, if that means getting the best possible players you can get(whatever the $$$) most of the moves dont work out, but we get an A+ plus for at least trying. Snyder is better than most owners, he really want to win, which we will soon enough, so keep cracking your jokes because our time is soon HAIL TO THE REDSKINS !!! #4 Defense + Haynseworth = Problems for whoever we play !!! ps Snyder is a way better owner than Davis not even close

  32. crise40g says: Apr 6, 2009 12:15 AM

Story is totally false. Youth movement going on in the Raider Nation.

YEAH GET THIS GUY OUT OF MY CITY…
so we can miss the playoffs in peace. Are you guys retarded? Are you really going to lose both the franchise leading recievers in the same off season??? The young guys??? Jerome Simpson?? He HAD ONE CATCH AND GOT HURT. Coles??? He’s not young…Henry has more misdemeanors than missy elliot. I’m pretty sure chad put cincinnati on the map.

  36. edalgleish says: Apr 6, 2009 1:31 AM

If Ochocinco does end up with the Raiders, he won’t have a problem getting number 85. There is noone on the roster that is currently using it, and the Raiders do not retire jersey numbers either officially or unofficially. The current players that have the numbers 80-90 are listed below.
    #80 Zach Miller TE
    #81 Chaz Schilens WR
    #82 Darrell Strong TE
    #84 Javon Walker WR
    #85 (Insert Chad Ochocinco WR)
    #86 Tony Stewart TE
    #87 Ashley Lelie WR
    #90 Terdell Sands DT

  37. Soulman45 says: Apr 6, 2009 1:35 AM

Lets see can they get the ball to him, they need O line to keep Russel off his rear.

RedskinPete: I was with you until you said this…”Snyder is a way better owner than Davis not even close”
That’s when you lost all credibility.
Both owners want and try to win at all costs, with the difference being that Al Davis knows football and Snyder doesn’t.

    —-Al Davis knows football? Laughable.
—-And this is why Raiduhhhhhh fans have no credibility. “Chuck it deep” is not a game plan. Nor will it work more than 3.5% of the time.

  42. adammwilson says: Apr 6, 2009 8:38 AM

chad johnson to the raiders makes sense the trade would allow al davis to focus on gettin a left tackle n move khalif barnes to his more natural right tackle
the bengals dont need chad johnson they have alot of good young receivers they have jerome simpson, andre caldwell, n they have lavaeneas coles

  43. shaunypoo says: Apr 6, 2009 9:38 AM

“I’m pretty sure chad put cincinnati on the map.”
Chad wasn’t on either of the Bengals Super Bowl teams.
He is on the decline and didn’t get the surgery he needed before last season and still needs this season. He wants out, let him go, or better yet, trade him. Let the bidding begin. He is getting old and hurt and his best years are behind him. They were great years, but they are still in the rear view. Chicago could use him, and he would do pretty well, but I don’t want him in Cincinnati anymore.

  48. Boberto says: Apr 6, 2009 6:06 PM

What point where you trying to make 40beers when you were talking about about who won the last match between the Bengals and Raiders? Going by your next post it seems like you are a Raiders fan, so I ask why would you bring up the fact the last time the Bengals played they won.

  49. MarionBarberIII says: Apr 6, 2009 8:50 PM

”Chad wasn’t on either of the Bengals Super Bowl teams. ”
Oh so going to the superbowl twice 30 years ago puts you on the map for good??? Was anybody even talking about the Bengals before Chad Johnson got on the team?? I’m pretty sure he’s the biggest superstar this city has ever seen. So you want to throw him out for a 3rd round pick and a sack of peanuts??? Did you realize that Carson Bad knee / bad elbow Palmer got hurt and Fitzpatrick was the starting QB last year?? Be careful, you might actually get what you wish for.

    ==================================================
You’re equating Michael Bush to “a sack of peanuts”?
I think Bush alone is WAY too much for a 31 yr old WR, never mind a 31 yr old WR who’s a complete jackass.

  51. shaunypoo says: Apr 7, 2009 6:50 AM

MBIII, by making those statements you are perpetuating the belief that someone is bigger than the team. I know what Chad was and Know what he is. Everyone who lives here and follows football does, and while some like him more than others, we realize that he is an alligator armed, loud mouthed fool who pouts more often than not. He is great at the spectacular play, but not very consistent at the common catches. He doesn’t go across the middle, is consistently injured, doesn’t get along with most of his team, and is going further backward everyday. He is not, by far, the biggest superstar this city has ever seen, in any sport, much less foootball. I hope I do get what I wish for, it would be addition by subtraction.
