Burress Wins His Grievance

Well, it wasn’t such a bad few days for former Giants receiver Plaxico Burress, after all.
A league source tells us that Burress has won his grievance against the Giants.
As a result, Burress will be entitled to receive his full signing bonus.
The Giants had withheld a $1 million payment that had been owed to Burress in December.  But he actually earned the signing bonus when he signed his contract in September.
Of course, none of this changes the fact that Burress currently has no team, and likely will have a hard time getting anyone to sign him unless and until the current cloud hanging over his head regarding New York weapons charges is resolved in a manner that doesn’t involve a 3.5-year prison stay.

When are owners going to figure out how to write contracts??? For every player that signs a contract there needs to be verbage in there talking about conduct! Any player that won’t sign it you know he is probably a nitwit and does not need to play in the NFL! Those who have few character flaws and do not commit crimes will have no problem signing the contract!!!

Well as always, King is on the cutting edge of social trends. He has shown us that we are now living in a world gone mad…

  4. theskinnypost says: Apr 6, 2009 11:49 AM

If just finished Peter King’s column that said “No sane person sees him winning his grievance against the team.”

Well that’s good news for Benjamin Brafman and his other attorneys, the monies will be coming directly their way.

Haha, ‘yall’ lose again. He lives his life the way he wants, your kids suck it up because you people suck as parents and people and they still remain millionaires. NEXT: Michael Vick.

Also, if there is a writer who has used the bully pulpit to a greater degree to denigrate black athletes as thugs and contract-breakers while upholding white athletes as honorable warriors more than King, I have yet to see it.

    Gets all the back money.
Now tell me how smart those 2 idiot sons were suspending him on their own and don’t even save the 2 cheapskates that money but cost Giants the season.
They could have and should have just waited till this March then cut him. 2 complete incompetants lucky that their daddies were rich!

That’s your fault for reading Peter King’s column’s. He’s not a sane person.

What no speculation how Burress’s release affects the chances of him learning to use the soap on a rope? I say the odds improved for a significant jail term once the Giant’s fans in the DA’s office were informed that the imprisoning of Burress will have no outcome on the Giant’s season. All hail the concept of prosecutorial discretion!

  14. FootballRocks09 says: Apr 6, 2009 12:31 PM

Great .. now get ready for the Plax and Pac show — two unemployed NFL gun – toting clubbers now with money to spend (rain?) and nothing but time to do it. Coming to a strip joint near you!

That means Burress thought he would have still could have played.

Bob, I thought I chased your sorry ass off this site. As has been said HUNDREDS of times, Plax was not medically able to play until the playoffs EARLIEST. Remember, moron, he shot himself THROUGH HIS LEG!!! Not a minor injury to anyone, let alone a WR. Plus, when he shot himself, he was ALREADY INJURED because of a severe hamstring pull. Remember, he only played ONE set of downs in the Arizona game? Second, he will, inevitably, face a suspension from Goodell when/if he returns. Had he been ready to play in the playoffs, which is doubtful, and the Giants brought him back, he could have been suspended. Your endless campaign against the Giants has failed here and at the Daily News website where other people have pointed out your stupidity. The Giants were major players in free agency and have just enough cap room left to sign their draft picks. Therefore, anyone with an education beyond sixth grade (yes, we know YOU didn’t make it that far) knows the Giants are not “cheapskates”. They have spent almost all the money that the current NFL contract allows them to spend. Sorry you can’t afford the PSL and lost your season tickets. But that’s not the fault of the Giants. You should have gotten a better paying job. Obviously, sad, pathetic, angry loser doesn’t pay much or you would be a billionaire. Finally, Giants ownership didn’t cost them the season, Plax’s stupidity did that. Since the you and Plax spend all your waking moments in a fantasy world that your diminished minds created where everything is someone else’s fault, I am not surprised that you’re too blind to see that.

SAID BY WHO? THE GIANTS AND THE DOCTOR ON THE GIANTS PAYROLL? Never did anyone on the other side say anything. And with your own eyes you saw him walking perfectly sound on TV a day later with no discomfort and no limp. And the Giants first playoff game was 6 weeks away. Yet they wouldn’t even wait a few weeks to see if it was healing or better, no they immediately suspended him now turning out to be a paid vacation as they ruined the Giants chamnces in the playoffs. Getting beat badly by the eagles a team that Burress excelled against.

Obviously because he thought he could have played in those playoffs with that slight flesh wound.

First of all, he didn’t get his salary for the 4 games he was suspended… so they did save some money by doing so.

    you dont get it.
goodell wouldnt do a thing until he had his day in court this year. i would have cut him on march first this year and go look to replace him BUT not when they did. they cost the giants the season by immediately cutting him then didnt even wait to see if he got better and he sure was walking fine , they had a month and a half’s time. and him not on last years playoff team proved it.

Go shoot yourself in the leg. Tell us all how it’s a “slight flesh wound”. Better yet, in your case, aim the gun higher. Take a serious case of stupid out of the gene pool. Go ask your doctor about Plax’s “slight flesh wound”. See what he or she tells you. The fact that you can’t see the stupidity of your comments almost makes me feel sorry for you. Almost. Then I remember you’re a whiny, lying douche, just like Plax. BTW – if a million dollars was at stake, think you might you lie that you “wanted to play” – whether you really could or not? Moron.

    Hey Vox –
You out there? Remember how I told you one moron on the jury and Plax walks? You didn’t want to believe it. But read the rants of Bob S. Bob is bitter loser that lost his Giants tickets because he couldn’t swing the PSLs. So, instead of accepting the fact that he was priced out or doing something constructive like leading protests against the PSLs, Bob has launched an endless campaign of slurs and lies directed at the Giants owners. His latest crusade is how they are so “cheap” and they ONLY suspended Plax because of money. After all, he was angel, right? Never did a thing wrong! Who would suspend such a stand up guy? Now, imagine this moron on the jury hearing Plax’s case. He’s so bitter about the PSLs, he completely ignores the obvious facts right in front of his face. Plax walks. Bob S. is exhibit A why the DA’s office is looking to plea the case out, despite all the evidence against Plax. Because people like Bob S. are allowed to serve on juries. You only need one idiot on a crusade and the criminal gets a “get out of jail free” card.

i expect bloomy to be like the liberal philly DA and magically decide there isnt squat for evidence, and either plax will see the charges dropped, get acquitted, or have his sentence suspended. and it will all be swept under the rug.

go take a hit by one of these headhunting d-backs and sure it would affect me too buyt im not a pro football player. fact is he was walking PERFECT the next day – just how bad could that injury be. remember i am repeating the same thing i said from back then- no reporter asked the lawyer or burress or his PERSONAL doctor for their opinion on the severity of his injury. so you were taking the big businessman’s word for the gospel truth.
i said it then and i was right because that is exactly why he won his arbitration.

    airhead trash can
it is not about whether giants were wrong to cut phil simms that way, or trade sam huff to the redskins or charge seat licenses or let parcells leave – it is about mara and tisch shooting themselves in the foot by suspending burress WHEN THEY DID AND ON THEIR OWN which cost the giants a possible championship.
it obviously is so far above you head that you cant understand it. but i’ll remind you – the eagles with no receivers to worry about stuffed the giants running attack ending the giants season.

east trash? how did the giants offense do against the eagles in that HOME playoff game? asfter the 2 sons of mara/tisch didnt let burress play?
i hear giants are now down to #50,000 on their waiting list looking for new suckers to rob? must be a lot of dummies in new york not willing to buy up those tickets they waited so long on the list for?

Bob S. – Grow up, get an education, and get a life. Just think, if you went to school instead of talking out your ass, you would have your GED by now. Name one employer in the US that would stand by while their employee breaks city, state, AND federal laws while he’s out “sick” and not, at bare minimum, suspend him or her. You can’t. We’re all laughing at you Bob and you still don’t have your Giants tickets. But you keep on fighting for Plax!!!! I’m SURE he’ll support you when you get in trouble because Plax is all about looking out for the little guy. BTW, moron, try watching the Giants – Eagles game again. The problem wasn’t Plax, it was Eli. Play the tape over and see how many times he missed open receivers. Even Plax can’t catch a ball that’s thrown six feet behind him. Your ignorance is appalling, but predictable. That’s the problem with trash like you, Bob. You don’t know what you’re talking about and you never learn.

I love how nothing brings us all together and unites us like some douche with the grammar skills of an 11 year old getting on here and trying to inflate his ego a bit by getting a rise out of us.
    @Bob S.
I’m guessing my tax dollars bailed out your mortgage? Makes sense because you do have that “Plax messed up and got suspended and its not his fault, it’s the fault of the people that suspended him” rationale. I’m sure it’s the bank’s fault, too, for wanting to take your house because you didn’t pay them… how dare them! You have kids? I’m sure you get livid at the school system when they suspend little Susie for giving blowjobs under the bleachers… they’re ruining her education dammit! Let’s not blame criminals anymore… let’s blame law enforcement for busting criminals and bringing them to justice.

just one? first of all he had not been convicted as of last november or now for that matter. they never let him have his due process. one employer in usa? jags owner! he let matt jones play all year just last season.
i repeat- i think burress is an idiot and id have cut him by march 1 of this year but not then with the playoffs ahead and ruin my teams chances in a year they very well could have won the super bowl.
