taylor didn’t want out last year b/c of the team’s poor performance. i’m sure that frustrated him, but that’s not why. it was that fuss about his dancing activities & his missing the voluntary OTA’s. he’s a lifelong dolphin, so obviously going to the Jets is a bad idea. The Jets are our arch-enemy. I hate the Pats too, but at least the Pats have a legitimate shot at a title. JT just wanted a title before he retired. i supported him on that effort. our team was 1-15 a year ago. if you’re on the absolute twilight of your career and you’ve never won, you can’t blame a player for wanting to win. JT was in Miami through several crappy seasons – he paid his dues. he deserves to win.
i’m not going to ostracize him for that.
all that said, i wouldn’t bring him back unless he’d take a seriously cheaper contract, and only for a year or two. and even then you have to wonder where he’d fit in our system now.

Bucket – JT doesn’t care about limiting his options. He has all the money he needs, so either hes going to play for HIS team, the Miami Dolphins OR take a shot at a ring with the Pats. Thats it.
You would think Jets fans would understand the hated rivalry between the Phins and the Jets especially!

Not that you are ever cynical Florio, but there is no way Taylor is talking to the Phins to drive up his market value. He had 8 MILLION on the table in DC. If he wanted the most money possible, then all he had to do was show up for workouts, a small commitment for such a huge payday. He had to do know he wouldn’t get that much on the open market. This is NOT about money.
Miami has Porter and a highly unproven (in the NFL) Wake and not much else for pass rush. I know Ireland said he wouldn’t want to bring in Taylor because it would prevent other players from growing into the role, but puleaze, Taylor would be worth every cent as a situational pass rushing specalist. Give em 25 plays a game and he would be a beast. Let the young pups play the rest of the snaps, keep JT fresh for the playoff puuuuuuuuush!

Jason Taylor will NEVER be a Dolphin. He might be begging for a return, but it will not happen with Bill (give em’ hell) Parcells calling the shots. Why would he back peddle when they had a better season without him? It doesn’t work like that. If J.T. wants a family life while “dancing” around a football career, you can’t have it both ways.
I promise you, he may be talking to the Phins, but they are not listening to him. He needs to cut bait and fish for another team… do you know how i know?… The Skins cut him loose and that is all you need to know.

Kind of weird for him to bring it up though- The Jets must have told him that there was no way on earth it was going to happen, or he really just felt like limiting his options even more, which considering it is already April and he is unemployed tells you a lot about him. … Jets fans would’ve been more than happy to forgive after a double-digit sack season, especially after Gholston.

If you haven’t seen the NFLN interview with Jeff Ireland this morning regarding Taylor it’s worth a look. Ireland sounded cold to the idea. Ireland commented on Taylor’s age an desire to commit. Another point Ireland mentioned was Taylor not wanting to participate and his being there hurting the development of others who may sit behind him.

No, the Jets fans aren’t the ones working on Wall Street, and this dancing defensive end is turning his nose up at the prospect of playing for a team whose fan base is mostly blue collar working types.
The real reason that he doesn’t like Jets fans is because he had to give up a home game every year when enough Jets fans showed up to Joe Robbie that it was more like Manhattan than Miami. Once fans saw that their catcalls got under his skin, they poured it on even more.
Sorry Jason, but your issue isn’t really with the Jets fans who abused you over the years — it’s with your own fans who didn’t show up to the games.

Dolphin have given big signing bonus to Cameron (Derek) Wake as DE in a re-aligned 3/4 defense. Wake is an unbelievable athlete and has the resume to prove it.

However, Miami cannot sign him until July 20th. Otherwise they lose the draft pick that they received when trading him to Washington last year.
