Niners Still In Play For Stafford

So much for the wringing of hands and gnashing of teeth that emerged after a psychologist employed by the 49ers asked Georgia quarterback Matthew Stafford about his parents’ divorce at the Scouting Combine. According to Gil Brandt of NFL.com (via Matt Maiocco of the Santa Rosa Press-Democrat), Stafford will be making the trek to San Francisco for a pre-draft visit, and perhaps to be further interrogated. The move confirms, in our view, that the supposed consternation from Stafford was grossly overblown by the Bay Area media. So, in the end, the Niners will have kicked the tires on the three top quarterback prospects in the 2009 draft pool.
