Lions Unveil New Logo

The Detroit Lions officially have unveiled their new logo and uniforms. As expected, they are the same logo and uniforms that leaked to the Internet a few weeks ago. The logo came from a toy tractor-trailer that inadvertently appeared at NFLShop.com. The uniforms came from an internal style sheet showing the details of the new duds. “We will consistently present the Lions as a first-class organization with a clear sense of mission and direction,” team president Tom Lewand said at a press conference that, as we hear it, included fans chanting, “Don’t draft Stafford.” “We have made several significant changes this offseason in accordance with that commitment,” Lewand added. “The introduction of this new brand identity is another element of that process. Today is an exciting and historic day for this franchise.” Sorry, but we wouldn’t go that far. The logo and the uniforms won’t be all that different. Lewand’s comments suggest something more dramatic, along the lines of the jarring change the Bucs made last decade from the creamsicles creampuffs to a pewter powerhouse. Of course, changing the look of the team won’t mean a thing if the stuff inside the uniforms doesn’t perform better. Anyway, here’s the new logo. Feel free to comment.
