Seahawks Looking Sanchez?

News flash:  The Seahawks will draft quarterback Mark Sanchez.
Or they won’t.
There are two schools of thought regarding this issue.  One theory is that the Seahawks want Sanchez.  This concept is being fueled by evidence that Seahawks president Tim Ruskell is desperately trying to find out whether anyone will be trading up to the No. 3 spot held by the Chiefs.
But one industry source recently told us that the Seahawks have decided that taking Sanchez would be the equivalent of telling the locker room that the team is rebuilding, and that the decision has been made to address immediate needs during the last few productive years of Matt Hasselbeck’s career.
The best fit, in our view, would be linebacker Aaron Curry, who would take the spot vacated when Julian Peterson was shipped to Detroit.  But Curry might not be available at No. 4.
And, frankly, Ruskell might be looking into whether the Chiefs are trading out of the three hole in the hopes that they do, that someone else picks Sanchez, and that Curry slips through to No. 4.

  1. You hit the nail on the head Florio, that is exactly what their hoping, Mark gets drafted by team x in a trade with the Chiefs and Curry falls in the lap of the Seahawks, and then (and hear is the kicker) the Seahawks pull the franchise tender of Leroy Hill since he still hasn’t signed the tender, he walks, we save money and he becomes a UFA, Curry wins Defensive ROY, and everyone is happy.

  2. When you finish the season as the Seahawks did and are picking fourth…Guess what?
    You’re rebuilding…

  3. @rlr Looking back on this thread, you made a good call, and although Hill didn’t walk (which is good), I hope Curry does win ROY. It could happen if our defense isn’t on the field for 75% of the game.
@jeanpierrer The general consensus is that the record was more due to injuries at critical positions, like QB. The Seahawks are not ‘rebuilding’ and the roster moves prove that.
