Maybe Favre’s attitude reminds Childress of McNabb who he
dealt with during his last year in Philadelphia as offensive
coordinator for Andy Reid.I remember reading that he
did not want to go through that again.

Can’t tell you how insanely hilarious it would be if the Vikes left the drama queen at the alter and did not sign him.
This would again re-affirm the Packer organization’s decision to part ways with him.
As a GM, you are better parting ways a touch early than a year or more too late. In Favre’s case, the timing was right for GB,,,because BF simply thought he was bigger than the team.

All lost in this Favre talk is that Childress couldn’t coach a Pro Bowl team to the Super Bowl. They backed into the playoffs last year as it was with 4-5 games determined by phantom calls by the refs and a missed field goal indoors at the dome against the Packers, even though they got a lucky break on the bogus safety call. They could have easily been 5-11, so how much better have they gotten in the offseason? What are they going to do when the Williams wall is suspended for 4 games?

What was the ultimatum? The man retired after getting extended time in the offseason for 5 years in a row to make up his mind. Then he finally retired, said in April he had second thoughts and they were ready to welcome him back, then a few days later he says he wants to stay retired and they move on full speed ahead with Rodgers. Then he changes his mind once again a week before training camp. He is the one to blame, not Thompson. It’s hard enough replacing a legend, but it’s even harder when you know you need to throw all of your support towards the guy replacing the legend given the shoes they have to fill. Rodgers handled it as well as anyone could have in his position. The defense couldn’t hold onto their end of the bargain after being decimated by injuries.
Any Viking fan would cream themselves for a QB to come in and throw for 4000yds 29 TD’s and only 12 picks their first season as a starter. Instead they’ve been forced to look on the scrap heap like they’ve always had to do with exception of drafting Culpepper.

Right, because the proper way to run any organization is to be held hostage by your most important team member and not know whether or not you need to replace him year after year..
Brett’s the one who initiated this situation. HE tried to play GM by telling Thompson to bring in Mariucci and Randy Moss. HE retired. HE decided he’d come back after they’d already given the job to someone else. HE was not going to accept a bench position. HE played the whole thing out in the media.
He’s got no reason to be pissed at Thompson. If he wants to feel slighted he can go ahead and be that way. But Thompson, McCarthy and the Packers organization put up with his indecisive flip-flopping for several years before his retirement. They were even ready to fly down to meet with him in March ’08 when he thought he might’ve retired too soon. They had to move on, and they’ve shown class by not responding to his digs in the media.
As a Packer fan I’d love Brett to sign with Minnesota, come play in Green Bay and find out exactly what Packer fans think of him now. I’d love to see him fail. He’s purely motivated by this feeling of rejection.. And that’s no good reason to come back and play. Then again, what a slap in the face it would be if the Vikings turn him down. Wow. A team without a viable NFL QB (sorry, Sage) turns down the once-almighty Brett Favre. That would be the way to go out.

Who gives a shit what the Packers or their fans think? When does a player or a team have to check with other teams or other teams’ fans before agreeing to a deal? If it mattered to Favre, he would have stayed retired last year. It sure doesn’t matter to the Vikings, who have had a rivalry with Green Bay almost from the start.

Now we’re quoting a podcast discovered third hand through another blog site? A podcast by Jay Glazer, no less, who spouts off with his own unsourced opinion put forth as fact. How does Glazer know what the Vikings may or may not be thinking about this? I heard his podcast; he attributes absolutely none of his “facts” to any source, other than “people around the NFL.”
The constant unsourced, anonymous reporting that is commonplace in the sports “journalism” world – the line is blurred between papers and blogs nowadays and I’m not sure journalism even exists anymore – drives me nuts.
This post, which is based on a completely unsourced third hand story and has a dramatic headline to boot, is misleading at best, irresponsible at worst.
I know this is just a blog, and a pretty good one at that, but can’t we do any better than this?

Because what Florio won’t talk about is that the Favre if he’d stayed with the Jets would’ve gotten 12million to play this year. Now that the Jets have released him he has to negotiate a new contract and nobody in their right mind is going to give him 12 million. So that’s going to be the sticking point is how much the Vikings will offer and how much less is Favre going to take to play one more year.
What will probably happen is Favre and Childress meet and Childress gives Favre the playbook to study. If Favre is feeling healthy and ready to go by early July the Vikings will try to negotiate a contract with him. If not then they go with Rosenfeilds who’s had all the minicamp reps and is ready to go as the starter. That’s the intelligent scenario and if they sign him as long as they don’t pay him massive sums of money to play they can pull him and start Roesnfeilds during the season. The Jets couldn’t do that because they didn’t have a capable backup and they were paying him 12 million so if he said he could go then he goes.

can you be considered under the radar, when:1.) you are defending division champs and 2.) everyone seems to be preoccupied with signing this 39 year old QB who has a bum wing, and throws more interceptions than Witherspoon threw punches.
Some people seem to think the Bears have already won the division. Cutler really has yet to prove himself as an NFL QB…besides who is he going to throw to? Chicago needs to upgrade their receiver corps a bit.
As a Vikings fan I think it would be a HUGE mistake to bring the Favre circus to town. What do you hope to gain….1 season? It’s not like you have a highly touted rookie you want to have him mentor

These are the only factors that matter here. If these two assumptions hold true, then nothing else should effect the outcome.

Ultimately, I think it comes down to two things.
1. Do the Vikings feel he will help the team win more games?
2. Will he make the team money (selling jersey’s, filling seats, etc)?
On the first question, obviously Favre has his best years behind him, but could arguably be upgrade over the current Viking QB situation.
On the second question, last year he sold a lot of jersey’s for the Jets and got fans excited about the season but was ultimately a bust. Not sure Viking fans will get behind Favre this time due to all the drama.

Oh c’mon. Glazer has had such a hard on for Favre for years, since he was shut out in favor of King, Werder, and Mortensen. Glazer is the same reporter who started the whole Favre called Millen report to give him info on the upcoming Packers/Lions game. Gimme a break.
Bottom line…If Childress wants Favre (to save his job, much less better than any QB’s currently on his roster) and Wilf wants Favre (puts butts in the seats, sells merchandise, and probably other forms of additional income I’m not thinking of), then IT WILL HAPPEN.
Get over yourself Glazer, because you don’t any REAL inside scoop on the NFL story of the summer…AGAIN.
