Fins Plan More Stadium Innovations

Frankly, we weren’t all that impressed by the news that the Dolphins are cozying up to an aging performer who hasn’t had a hit song since long before the bulk of today’s mainstream musicians were even born, or by the decision to change the handle of a stadium that used to be named for a defunct apparel company to the name of a beer brand that in time will be defunct, too. But we’re definitely impressed by the latest news coming from South Florida’s football franchise. The team announced today a partnership with Kangaroo Media, and the project will result in the presence of specialized handheld wireless devices in all premium seats and suites at Land Shark Stadium. With the Kangaroo Gen III units, fans attending the games will be able to access personalized content such as instant replay, different camera angles, field-level audio, fantasy team alerts, NFL news and standings, split-screen video and stats, video on demand, and video and text message boards. “We are excited to enter into this unique partnership with Kangaroo,” owner Stephen M. Ross said in a team-issued release. “We have made a commitment to Dolphins fans that we will constantly strive to enhance their experience at Land Shark Stadium. The roll-out of this exciting new technology is the first of many new ideas that are under consideration to introduce state of the art amenities throughout the stadium over the next several years.” Though the units will be available only in the 5,000 premium seats and suites, we hope that the development is the first step in a process that will result in similar units being available to any fan attending an NFL game.
