The Kansas City Chiefs have announced that defensive end Brian Johnston has been placed on waivers.
He was a seventh-round pick in 2008, and he appeared in nine regular-season games.
If Johnston clears waivers, he’ll become an unrestricted free agent. But it makes sense for anyone who wants him to make a waivers claim, since he’s undoubtedly receiving only the minimum base salaries for the balance of his current deal.

Man I sure am glad that we got rid of Jared Allen so we could waste a draft pick on a new defensive end to replace him and have to dick around with sub-par players like this one (gee thanks Carl!)…… revolving door at this position….. who really cares. You don’t win a championship by getting rid of your best players a.k.a. Jared Allen and Tony Gonzalez. Go Chiefs!!! I know Scott Pioli is playing the “slow and steady wins the race” thing but….COME ON, MAKE SOME REAL MOVES HERE!!!
I’m surprised with this release. He seemed to be a raw talent with a good motor. I know he was fighting injuries this offseason but Chiefs fans had high hopes for him.
“My job is not to collect talent, it’s to build a team,” Pioli said. “Individuals go to Pro Bowls, teams win championships. That’s our goal here – to build this team with the right kind of people and the right kind of players, and consistently compete for championships.”
Who??
“Chiefs Chop Brian Waters” – now that would be a story.
He’s good – But he’s no Bon Scott.
KCWolfer – Seriously? I mean, seriously? You’re whining about a 7th round draft pick from a year ago being cut in the offseason?
This shouldn’t have even been news. Let alone worthy of someone’s bitching.
