Report: Titans Haven’t Filed Formal Complaint Against Redskins

Following reports that the NFL is investigating allegations that the Washington Redskins tampered with former Tennessee Titans defensive tackle Albert Haynesworth, an interesting piece of information was reported by Terry McCormick of the Nashville City Paper. According to the report, which cited sources, the Titans have yet to file a formal written complaint against the Redskins. The Tennessean has previously reported that the Titans have provided electronic communications, radio clips, and newspaper articles to attempt to prove that the Redskins tampered with Haynesworth. According to McCormick, the Titans aren’t expecting draft pick compensation and “don’t have a real desire to push the issue for their own gain.” Per the report, the Titans’ top offer to Haynesworth was a four-year, $34 million package prior to free agency. The Redskins signed Haynesworth to a blockbuster contract with a maximum value of $100 million about five hours after the launch of the free agent signing period. Redskins owner Daniel Snyder reportedly had dinner with Haynesworth’s agent, Chad Speck, at the NFL Scouting Combine in advance of the free agent signing period. However, Speck also represents Redskins wide receiver Malcolm Kelly. So, they could have been discussing him or the weather or the quality of the shrimp cocktail. According to the Washington Post, league officials are trying to obtain “all communications” between the Redskins and Speck prior to the official start of free agency.
