Sparano “Disappointed” In Starks

After being arrested for aggravated battery for allegedly assaulting a police officer with his truck over the weekend, Miami Dolphins defensive lineman Randy Starks practiced today, according to Armando Salguero of the Miami Herald. While Starks didn’t speak to the media, Dolphins coach Tony Sparano did have a few things to say about the situation. “I’m disappointed, but there are still facts that have to be gathered,” Sparano said. Sparano added that the Dolphins have taken the proper steps in terms of reporting the arrest to the league office and will “let the process take care of itself.” Sparano said he isn’t rushing to judgment, according to Harvey Fialkov of the Fort Lauderdale Sun-Sentinel. “Randy and I have spoke certainly about this whole situation,” Sparano said. “I need to know the facts, too. This isn’t something I can look at and immediately say I’m making this decision, boom, snap decision. That’s not what I want to do at all.’' According to the report, Starks’ domestic violence incident years ago wasn’t considered to be a first strike under the league’s personal conduct policy. This will reportedly be considered Starks’ first encounter with that policy. Starks is free on $10,000 bail.
