Despite a contract dispute that remains unsettled, Cleveland Browns veteran kicker Phil Dawson plans to attend this week’s mandatory minicamp, according to Mary Kay Cabot of the Cleveland Plain Dealer. It’s believed that Dawson has been boycotting voluntary workouts to make a statement that he wants a new contract. Dawson has yet to explain his absence publicly. Meanwhile, the agent for kick returner and wide receiver Josh Cribbs said that Cribbs will attend the minicamp as well as linebacker D’Qwell Jackson. Cribbs’ agent, J.R. Rickert, said that no deal is imminent for Cribbs, who recently attended a voluntary minicamp after voicing complaints about his deal not being reworked by the new regime of General Manager George Kokinis and coach Eric Mangini. Jackson is entering the final year of his contract and is due to make $640,000 this season.
