Speed On Display For Dolphins

A couple of players are demonstrating unexpected degrees of speed during the ongoing minicamp in Miami.
According to Armando Salguero of the Miami Herald, running back Ronnie Brown lined up as a wideout on one play, and blew past cornerback Eric Green to make a fingertip touchdown grab.
As Salguero points out, “That’s great for Brown.  And not so great for Green.”
Salguero also writes that he was “blown away” by Cameron Wake’s speed in kick-coverage drills, explaining that Wake got down the field as quickly as a couple of the team’s defensive backs.
Presumably, Eric Green was one of them.

That would be ‘Cameron’ Wake I take it?
Speed is a relative thing: the fastest guy on the ‘Fins ain’t gonna make it past the first round in the NFL Fastest Man competition, which is why Salguero wouldn’t know NFL speed until he gets back to watching Dolphin opponents.

    Jake,
    Nothing eclipses your ignorance.
Ever heard of Ted Ginn Jr?

C’mon Mike – did I miss it – or did you miss the news that ESPN is coming out with an all nude magazine?

Umm, Didn’t Ted Ginn run a 4.36 after an injured ankle during the combine? That has to be fast enough to get past the first round in that competition.

    JakeDSnake is a moron.
And I bet he doesn’t even have Boats and/or Hos!

Ginn didn’t have an injured ankle. He had a Lisfranc sprain because an OSU offensive lineman stepped on his foot while he and Ginn were jumping up and down celebrating Ginn’s opening kick return TD in the national championship game.

Cameron Wake is a freak, the entire NFL will be blown away by him, defensive rookie of the year for sure!

The Dolphins should never be allowed to sign a player named Eric Green ever again.
The same way the Eagles should never sign a guy named Mike Mamula and the Ravens should never sign a guy named Elvis Grbac.
    mmmmkay?

FTR, I don’t think Ginn Jr ran at the combine, because of the injury.

wow! The fastest guy on the Dolphins? he must be top 75 in the NFL in speed. #3 in the AFC East, no problem. ….go fins.

Speed is great and all, but unless you’re running track and not playing football it only accounts for so much. You still have to block and tackle in this league and that’s how teams win games.

    Yo Mikey
Don’t forget Armstrong, the real breakout speedster on Phins 09 team.

I’m sure Salguero was also “blown away” when he managed to keep his job despite Highfivegate.

Guy’s not even running with the first team right now…not even running with the second team for that matter. How about we let him work his way into the starting lineup, or at least off of special teams before we annoint him…

Ginn is one of the fastest guys in the NFL without pads. It means nothing. Salguero actually has a good comparrison here because if others are keeping up with Ginn then yes, they are showing speed.
    Once again it means nothing.
I expected the speed to drop off with the amount of weight training this whole team does. Maybe that means something in conjunction with the speed.
On a side note why isn’t Vick to the Vikings being considered?

This is too funny to me. I’m a Cards fan and I used to scream at the TV at all the times Eric Green got beat on plays until they finally benched him at put DRC in there. I swear he must have given up atleast 4 of the touchdowns by Favre in that Jets game last year. I wouldn’t be surprised if the Fins cut him before the season starts.
