Schefter: Brandon Marshall Asked To Be Traded

Adam Schefter, who technically still works for NFL Network but who soon will be jumping to ESPN, continues to keep his finger on the pulse of the NFL.
Or, as the case may be, against its prostate gland.
In a Monday morning segment with 850 KOA in Denver, Schefter said that Marshall asked owner Pat Bowlen to be traded during their Friday meeting.
Per Schefter, Marshall told Bowlen, “I think I’d like to be traded.”  Schefter said that Bowlen asked Marshall to take some time to consider whether he wants a new contract or a trade, and that Marshall is expected to stick to his guns.
Schefter also said that there are other teams in the league (the Bears?) that are ready make a play for Marshall.
So stay tuned.

    Urlacher and/or Tillman/Vasher for Marshall!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  2. raiderclay says: Jun 15, 2009 3:00 PM

Pull the trigger Al Davis. Forget about the Javon Walker fiasco – this kids worth taking a shot at.

  3. semajnoswal says: Jun 15, 2009 3:04 PM

Marshall would be a better pick up than Plax anyways. He’s younger and doesn’t have a hole in his leg.

  4. tdk24 says: Jun 15, 2009 3:07 PM

Ah shucks, Donkies, couldn’t have happened to a more deserving franchise.

  5. graunkem says: Jun 15, 2009 3:07 PM

    Vikings? Favre to Marshall?

  6. Bruno says: Jun 15, 2009 3:09 PM

No way Bowlen trades Marshall to the Bears. REDSKINS BABY!

  7. jermely says: Jun 15, 2009 3:09 PM

They probably don’t want to trade him inside the AFC West unless its a last resorrt.. If the Raiders go out and make a play at a reciever, I would rather see us trying to get Boldin..
It would be lovely if the Broncos, young, ready to explode offense, were to totally implode if Marshall is traded.. The future looked so great with a young, Pro Bowl quarterback, two young tackles and two young wideouts in Royal and Marshall.. I can’t imagine Pat Bowlen not writing a story to one day and cursing out the day he hired McDaniels .. 🙂

i hope it is the Bears. I said when he came out in the draft that the Bears should have gotten him having watched him play at UCF. I’m not sure the Bears have any players the Broncos would want so whats left of their draft picks is all the ammo they have.

  9. HarrisonHits says: Jun 15, 2009 3:24 PM

Another little turd. The Donks should force him to honor his contract or sit on the bench.

  10. miller4545 says: Jun 15, 2009 3:25 PM

    B. Ettwards for B. Marshall says Solomon Wilcox

  11. Boog says: Jun 15, 2009 3:28 PM

    “Urlacher and/or Tillman/Vasher for Marshall!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ”
That’s the stupidest thing I’ve ever heard. The Bears should offer their 2010 2nd Round Pick, which should be more than enough given Marshall’s off field problems.

  12. Sgt B says: Jun 15, 2009 3:29 PM

Hahahahaha This new HC is causing quite a stir with his vets!

  13. chcgokoala says: Jun 15, 2009 3:30 PM

Guy is one knife fight with gf away from looooooooong suspension. + Bears are low on pix next year.

  14. Joe 6-pack says: Jun 15, 2009 3:31 PM

    “Urlacher and/or Tillman/Vasher for Marshall”
    That’s never going to happen.
Face it, the Bears are pretty much out of this trade, sorry.

  15. 4TDs1Game says: Jun 15, 2009 3:37 PM

Nice job running your offense out of town, McDaniels. 2 years max as head coach.

  16. Larry David says: Jun 15, 2009 3:40 PM

Wow, what a difference a year makes. From Cutler to Marshall to Orton to ?

  17. gameday says: Jun 15, 2009 3:41 PM

Broncos better go ahead and trade him for whatever they can get. Cause it’s not going to be long before he is out of the league and playing for a prison team.

  18. Chargers-Superhero says: Jun 15, 2009 3:41 PM

HA, HA, HA Marshall is a punk who beats up women. Glad he wants out of Denver. Broncos will finish dead last year in the AFC WEST !!!

  19. rkochiii says: Jun 15, 2009 3:42 PM

I just knew this would happen!!
Angelo get on it and make the move!! No matter what it takes and make sure you renegotiate the contract right away!!
Man if Angelo makes this move he will probably go down as one of the best GMs ever in Bears history….

  20. Chargers-Superhero says: Jun 15, 2009 3:42 PM

    Dead last THIS year.

  21. gibsonplyer says: Jun 15, 2009 3:42 PM

The Bears probably don’t have anything left to trade that the Bronco’s want so while it sounds like a nice story highly doubt it happens.
Plus with his arrest history compensation may not end up being what the Bronco’s would want.

  22. GlennHauser says: Jun 15, 2009 3:44 PM

    Marshall For Boldin…Good Riddance, Loser…

  23. briansalo1 says: Jun 15, 2009 3:45 PM

Jerry Angelo and Lovie Smith better have already had a meeting that went something along the lines of the following:
Lovie: “So we’re going after him right?”
    Jerry: “Yep.”

  24. dashoe says: Jun 15, 2009 3:47 PM

Funny how these Broncos players are suddenly turds now that Josh McDaniels is coach.
One and done for the Little man who thinks he’s Bill Belichick.

    Vikings? Favre to Marshall?
Ummmmmm…..first of all the Viking already have a grossly overpaid receiver in Bernard Berrian who is the 4th highest paid in the NFL even though he’s never had over 1000yds in a season. They can’t even sign Winfield until they know how much Favre is going to fleece them for. Marshall would want at least 50% more than Berrian, so they can’t afford that. Hell, they can’t even afford to pay himwhat they are paying Berrian. However, he would be a good fit for the Vikings given the turd that he is.

  26. eeerockski says: Jun 15, 2009 3:54 PM

I’m not sure why I still get mad when people refer to us as the Donks, or Donkies, or whatever. This is ridiculous. I wonder why he wants out now too? Maybe it’s really McD being an a-hole? Maybe he just wants a new contract and Bowlen aint budging. Has there ever been a worse offseason? I can’t think of one. Maybe we could one up the 08 Lions and lose all of our starters before the season even starts.

  27. rkochiii says: Jun 15, 2009 3:57 PM

yeh this is going to go down as the worst offseason in Broncos history….how can one man RUIN a team so quickly. have fun with your 20th ranked offense and your 29th ranked defense….the only bright spot for the broncos is knowshon moreno….

  28. TTCHEWSTHEWAD says: Jun 15, 2009 4:00 PM

they should trade him to the tribe!! he is a “slapaho” after all!

  29. ravensfan5 says: Jun 15, 2009 4:00 PM

Flacco to Marshall!!!! Ravens are in need of a big time reciever. Lets go Ozzy pull the trigger.

  30. TransplantedFan says: Jun 15, 2009 4:03 PM

Another wide receiver on the trade market? Let me guess what the expected compensation is for him… a 1st, 3rd, and 5th round draft pick along with a contract somewhere in the neighborhood of $8-$11 million dollars. Or, for the ‘Skins fans out there who want the guy, a 2010 1st, and 4th, plus a 2011 1st and 5th, with a contract worth… oh… we’ll say $90 million over 6 years with… $37 million in guarantees. Thats sounds like a Dan Snyder move. Oh, and I guess we can also name a rollercoaster after him at the now bankrupt Six Flags.

  31. MJA says: Jun 15, 2009 4:04 PM

Marshall can go screw himself. After all the support this organization gave him as he piled up DUI’s and arrests, and this is how he repays them? What about the fans who time after time after freaking time came to Marshall’s support every time he got into legal trouble “He is really a good kid, he’s trying to change” or “I met him and he’s such a nice guy, plus he helps out in the community”. That wasn’t good enough for Marshall, he had to piss away the years of support we gave him over money, he didn’t even give the Broncos a chance to renegotiate his contract (Which he did outperform).
Good riddance Brandon Marshall, we will miss you ability, but not your blatant mistreatment of our trust and loyalty.

  32. Mattchew182 says: Jun 15, 2009 4:06 PM

Well the McDaniels gifts to the Bears continue. Bears send the Broncos Vasher and Idonije plus a 2nd and 3rd rounder for a bonafide wideout to crush the Vikings and Packers for years to come. Or he goes to Tampa Bay clearing our biggest competitor for Plax. Either way Bears win NFC north and possibly the Super Bowl!

  33. GlennHauser says: Jun 15, 2009 4:09 PM

Here’s a guy whose mouth may have contributed to Darrent Williams’ murder, he’s been arrested/cited a ton of times, suspended, was sliced in the famous McDonald’s bag incident…and those are the things about which we know…does anyone believe his days of trouble are behind him?
Even though a guy can catch 100 balls, if he gets busted and is lost for the rest of the season, how can the team count on him? They can’t.

  34. Holofernes says: Jun 15, 2009 4:11 PM

Wow, I never really thought of the possibility of the Ravens snagging Marshall, but ravensfan5 might have a point. They did make a strong bid for Boldin, and Marshall is younger and probably not going to be asking for the 10M that Boldin was demanding.

  35. madstork43 says: Jun 15, 2009 4:13 PM

Watching Denver implode has made this the funniest off season in recent memory. I also love it when these guys talk about “we”, and “us”, like they are on the team.

  36. jbwbubba says: Jun 15, 2009 4:13 PM

I agree with the earlier post, trade him to Arizona for Boldin, even swap worry about contract later.

  37. Pea Tear Griffin says: Jun 15, 2009 4:15 PM

Lol, Chicago could also trade mascots with Denver if it happens.

  38. eeerockski says: Jun 15, 2009 4:16 PM

This just in, Knowshon Moreno wants a trade. And he’s not even signed yet!

  39. Brewster says: Jun 15, 2009 4:24 PM

Mike Shanahan is laughing so hard he is likely peeing in his pants.
Pat Bowlen, how is that new hire Head Coach working out for you?
Who ever woulda thought that Bowlen could make Al Davis and Jerry Jones look like geniuses.
If Broncos fans think this off season is long and painful just wait til the regular season starts.
Detroit’s 0-16 record may not be out of reach next year for the Broncos if this keeps up.

  40. RamboBavaro89 says: Jun 15, 2009 4:30 PM

Kiwanuka + 2nd rounder for Marshall
    Make it happen Jerry Reese!

  41. RaiderMight says: Jun 15, 2009 5:30 PM

Hearing it from Schefter is like hearing it directly from the donkey’s arse.

  42. TheMatic says: Jun 15, 2009 6:01 PM

delusional bears fans never cease to amaze me.
‘might be the best GM ever if this trade happens!’
ha ha. how about winning something meaningful first before crowning yourselves offseason champs. its worked out well for the redskins.

  43. eeerockski says: Jun 15, 2009 6:38 PM

madstork43: That’s how any loyal fan regards his/her team. Get a clue next time, before failing to pile it on, loser!

  44. Boog says: Jun 15, 2009 6:52 PM

So… the Broncos have signed Brandon Lloyd.

  45. invicto410 says: Jun 16, 2009 1:35 AM

Some of you guys are idiots! McDaniels has nothing to do with this. Marshall has said that he has a problem with the trainers on the team and how they treated his hip…how does a new coach have any control over that…he also wants a bag load of money. So he has beat the crap out of his gf, and been arrested numerous time. How does that make him deserving. A stand up guy would play out the season hoping to do well, then ask for an extension based on his performance…now the broncos will keep him, if he rides the bench or not, franchise tag him at the end of the season, so if he wants to leave the broncos still get their picks. He has no leverage!

  46. nic20 says: Jun 16, 2009 9:03 AM

Don’t be surprised if the Ravens make a run at him…….

  47. madstork43 says: Jun 16, 2009 10:53 AM

EEEERocockski– No, actually most people I know realize that they are NOT on the roster, asshole.

  48. Boog says: Jun 16, 2009 11:27 AM

“McDaniels has nothing to do with this. ”
Of course he does. McDaniels is the reason they traded away the pro bowl QB that was going to be throwing passes to Marshall in his contract year, and replaced him with Kyle Orton. The beef with the trainers is just icing on the cake. I’d ask to be traded too if I was stuck with an organization that has completely bungled things from the minute they fired Shanahan.
