Jags Already Add A Quarterback

We suggested earlier today, in response to the news that the Jaguars had cut quarterback Cleo Lemon, that they’d soon sign another one.
And they have.
The team announced earlier this afternoon that Todd Boeckman has been added to the roster.
Boeckman was the starter at Ohio State last season, before yielding to freshman Terrelle Pryor.
Jacksonville now has four quarterbacks on the roster, giving them enough arms for training camp.
The Jags also swapped out receiver Jason English for receiver Andy Strickland.
Or is it Jason Strickland and Andy English?

No shit. I was actually just thinking this morning “wtf ever happened to Todd Boekman.”

I think Boeckman’s got a shot at becoming a legit NFL QB. He’s got a NFL arm, living in a NFL body. He took the midnight train going anywheeeeeere.
Anyhow, I thought he got the jip jap treatment senior year for Terrelle Pryor. Whenever he came back into the game, Boeckman still tore it up!

Wait a sec – umuddafadda – are you saying that McNabbs transition from college to the NFL was not successful? Are you really lumping him together with Vince Young, T Jack, Russell, and Gerrard?
Wow, I don’t even think you could find a Cowboy or Giants fan who would be able to honestly say he belongs in that catagory.

how can you throw mcnabb in there? hes a top 3 to top 5 QB in this league. Look how many games hes won. He has one of the highest winning percentage since 2000. Hes top 10 in almost every category all time. I was just suprised see his name mentioned in that. He gets no respect. You are right alot of running QBs dont pan out but him randall cunningham and few others are the exception
I am an ohio state fan but i dont think boeckman will be anythin in the NFL. I doubt he will make the jags roster. He does have a strong arm but hes terrible against the blitz, USC exploited that

being a Bears & Buckeyes since i started following pro & college footbal god know’s how many years ago – i feel safe in calling Boeckman a poor man’s cross between Rex Grossman & Cade McNown. he’s got the McNown short-hop throw down perfect, and the Grossman-esque ability to get sacked, fumble, throw picks and generally look like a retard/chicken with its head cut off whenever there’s pressure.
    Enjoy Jacksonville

    umuddafadda:
James Harris only brought 2 black QB’s to the Jaguars, Byron Leftwich and Cleo Lemon. Garrard and Gray were on the roster before he took over. He brought in twice as many white QB’s.
But, then again that would require people like “umuddafadda” to actually have a clue when it comes to the NFL.

McNabb used to be a top 3 to top 5 quarterback in this league. But he’s not in that class anymore.
Which doesn’t validate the first poster’s silly argument one bit. But let’s not overrate McNabb. His level of play isn’t what it once was, and he hasn’t been to a Pro Bowl in 4 years (and seeing as more than 5 QBs go to the Pro Bowl, clearly the perception is that McNabb isn’t a top 5 QB anymore – even though Pro Bowl voting is hardly the best judge of talent).
McNabb is still in the top half of the league. There are 32 NFL teams and there aren’t 32 legitimate starting NFL quarterbacks, but McNabb is one of those legitimate starters. But the days of being top 3 or top 5 are over.

I won’t go so far as to call umuddafadda a racist, but he’s obviously an ignorent fool who thinks that all black QB’s are running QB’s. VY may fall into this category, but Garrard, McNabb and JaMarcus Russel (the kid in Oakland, as he so astutely observed) really don’t. And to infer that McNabb has been unsuccessful is ludicrous. I’m no D-Mac fan (probably because I hated him when he was at the ‘Cuse), but I respect the hell out of him. He’s dealt with a lot of BS during his time in the league, but he’s won…with class and with a smile on his face. But because he’s black, guys like umaddafadda just consider him an unsuccessful running quarterback. What a shame for a future HoFer.

mcnabb is still a top 5 QB in the league atleast. i think top 3 but ill go with top 5. Mcnabb gets no respect from anybody. When, and i mean WHEN, he wins us a superbowl all the haters will love em. I agree he is not the mobile QB he once was but he still is a hell of a QB. When he leaves or retires everybody, especially the haters, will miss him and realize what we had was great. remember the bobby hoying(ohio state baby) ty detmer doug pederson, remember those days. Be grateful for having a QB like mcnabb, i know i am.

YOUR A FLAT OUT KKK RACIST, TAKE OFF THE WHITE HOOD YOU GRANDMASTER WIZARD. ALSO LEFTIWICH WAS A FORMER JAGS’ QB, AND HE WAS BLACK, BUT HE WAS A POCKET PASSER, AND HE WASN’T FAST AND ATHLETIC. YOUR ARGUMENTS ARE FLAWED YOU DEVIL.

apparently everyone here is all for Shack ‘n his agenda
its worked rather well for Jags don’t you think?
    (check record-check attendence)
Re: McNabb-he’s done really well, right up until the big game
comes up-then he seemingly becomes marginal….maybe its
racist but why hasn’t the media called HIM “the best QB to
never have won the big one!”???? he’s had umpteen chances-
    (something to think ’bout no?)
perhaps its those dry heaves he had in his 1 superbowl
    reflected something, eh?
granted he’s got pretty good stats…but a NFL prototype QB
(read the field/react/good arm-not great, just good) in the mold of Montana/Brady/and Manning bros. and those on the cusp are Ryan (Atl) along with Rothesberger & a few others…..that is the QB that wins
    championships…its proven…..
Cleo Lemon is a div III-running QB to me……I’m allowed an opinion
also..b.tw……tarkenton (running QB who didn’t succeed fully in NFL-
    Bobby Douglass-running QB…..are other examples)
    signed,
    someone who isn’t pc
