Estefans To Buy A Small Stake In Dolphins

Not long after partnering with Jimmy Buffet, Dolphins owner Stephen A. Ross is teaming up with another pop star turned entrepreneur.
Gloria Estefan and her producer husband Emilio Estefan (not the guy from Men at Work) will reportedly buy a “very small” stake in the proud franchise, according to the Associated Press.  For now, the Dolphins will only confirm a “major announcement” will come Thursday.
At this point in the post, a play on words using a famous Estefan song would be appropriate.   But that would take research and it doesn’t make sense to feign too much knowledge about Gloria Estefan’s back catalog.
Instead let’s congratulate the Estefans, who will be among the few Hispanics to own a stake in an NFL team, and surely the only ones to have also produced a Ricky Martin record.
[Editor's note:  Maybe Ricky Martin will be the next minority owner of the Dolphins.  Or maybe if he's not interested they can get the guy who "sang" Rico Suave.]

While we’re at it, let’s congratulate Antonio Romo who is among very few Hispanics to start at any position in the NFL, let alone QB. And surely the only one to have racked up 16 300-yard passing games and 81 TD passes in his first 37 starts.

I won’t make any jokes about Gloria owning the dolphins other than maybe she thinks they are ‘pretty’. But I just hope shes the kinda owner BonJovi was.

Great news. She should flex her ownership muscles and agree to sign Donte Stallworth when his suspension is up. Seems like a perfect match to me.
They can even help each other out with their suspensions. Gloria can drive and Stallworth can run her boat.

Since losing his nerve (not to mention his lunch) in the Super Bowl, Donovan McNabb has missed more games than Tony Romo has lost since becoming a starter. Over the last two seasons, McNabb has lost as many games as a starter as Romo has in his entire career.

At least Donovan McNabb has won multiple playoff games. Nuff said.
Actually, Romo, with those wonderful stats you mentioned, has exactly the same number of playoff wins as all us scrubs on PFT combined.

back to the story – great (rolleyes), more circus-atmosphere around my team. How many celebrity minority owners do we need anyway?
