Rogers, Mangini Seeing Eye To Eye

We have yet to unearth any reports about Cleveland Browns gargantuan nose guard Shaun “Big Baby” Rogers and Browns coach Eric “Ribs” Mangini bonding over a few porterhouse steaks and orders of onion rings.
That said, the offseason rift between the big defensive lineman and the coach has apparently been over for at least a month or two after a rocky start to their relationship where Rogers initially felt snubbed by Mangini.
Now, Rogers and Mangini have reportedly joined a mutual admiration society, according to Terry Pluto of the Cleveland Plain Dealer.
Per the report, Mangini is “impressed with Rogers’ willingness to work with other players, and how the 350-pound nose tackle is physically gifted and relentless when rushing the QB.”
And Rogers, who told Mary Kay Cabot of the Plain Dealer last month that fences were mended with Mangini “just like grown men do,” is now of the belief that Mangini can help the defense get better.
There were reportedly a couple of meetings conducted to clear the air, which “helped Mangini get to know Rogers, who is a sensitive and sincere man behind the huge outgoing personality he shows on the field.”
Rogers was a dominant interior force for the Browns last season after being acquired in a trade from the Detroit Lions, collapsing the pocket on a regular basis.
Rogers registered 76 tackles and 4 1/2 sacks last season despite facing constant double-team blocking schemes.
Rogers is one of the Browns’ top players, so it didn’t make any sense for Mangini to do anything but make nice with the big defensive lineman.

You are so anti-Browns Florio! They are NOT fat, they are festively plump. There’s a difference! You are so against the Browns and their fans…
    WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHH…..

goes to show how assinine mangini is, doesn’t he realize just because you used to coach with bill belichik doesn’t mean you can get away with this shit? by the way mcdaniels is a just as bad maybe worse for letting his self innflamed ego allow him to let one of the top 5 qb’s in the league get traded. i feel bad for broncos fans. and crennel and weis have also done nothing good….just cant say the same for the coaching tree of another NFL coach named Bill. a real coach with a real system, that didnt involve cheating.

Seems more like “Eye to Brown Eye” to me.

Must be a slow Monday no news so we got to drum sum up.

I agree, I have already read this LONG BEFORE you posted this Aaron.
So far, you are 0-2 on the Browns. Why don’t you actually post something relevant or news worthy?

It sounds to me like it was Rogers that grew up and realized he was sounding like a whiner. Once he got to the OTA’s and minicamps, he saw that Mangini is taking a common sense approach to fixing what was wrong with the team: bulk up the offensive line, focus on stopping the opponents running game, eliminating stupid penalties and focusing on two minute drills.
And every head coach, down to the high school level “cheats” by some definition. I’d bet anything that Vince Lombardi had a lip reader and a stenographer sitting on the fifty yard line.

    Florio. Florio. Florio.
Jeez oh Pete. Stop with the Browns stuff. PLEASE. I get my hopes up when I see an item on here about the Browns and then it ends up being:
“I heard that Mangini killed Braylon’s salamander and when confronted Mangini gave Edwards a 5 minute timeout”
    or
“Apparently the new regime has gotten off to a bad start, no pickles on game day”

I want Florio’s job! It is so creative and imaginary.
“The Cleveland Browns just found Jimmy Hoffa in the basement of their stadium.”
    or
“BREAKING NEWS: Cleveland has cold weather in the winter, people shiver.”
See, it’s not that hard. You can do it too!

The great coaches understand that different players respond to different treatments. Parcells would be softer with some players and harsher with others, and correctly assessed which player would best respond to which approach. Belichick is somewhat the same, though less animated overall – never getting too high or too low with any players.
Mangini, ignoring Rogers and then expecting people to believe that he couldn’t notice a 350 lb nose tackle 3 feet from him, badly misplayed his approach to Rogers. While that damage can be undone, ultimately it doesn’t lead to any confidence in Mangini’s skills as a coach.
Clearly, he doesn’t fall into that category of “great coach”

What? is Monday “player relationships with coaches day?”
First Portis/Zorn, now this? What next…Andy Reid and McNabb discuss McNabb’s benching last year?
Wait….you already talked about that when McNabb got his raise…..

Joe Six Pack…You clearly dont fall into the category of a good writer, so stop trying. Go Browns.

Once Rogers got to meet EM and saw how organized and well run the practices are along with some defensive help brought in thats what most likely flipped the big guy..These guys`want to win (and get paid) and you can’t do either unless your team has some success.. Discipline and not taking retarded penalties and everyone on the same page every play will be a huge help..Including productive two minute offense and proper clock management will be a big plus for the Browns..Players prefer organized tight ship coaching staffs..bottom line

Tell that to Halie and Pioli regarding Brian Waters. Apparantly they didn’t get the memo.

JoeSixPack says: Nothing that makes sense.
You CLEARLY dislike Mangini so much that you’re willing to expose your stupidity with every post. Each time I read one of your posts, I feel my IQ begin to slip. About 10 more of your posts (@5 points ea.) I’ll be down near your level. GO BROWNS!

    HEY JOESIXPACK!
What happens if Mangini ends up being a good coach with a good record? What will you do with all your time?
Still not figured who you align yourself with.. My guess is New England? If so wouldn’t be more credit to Bill if he was? I mean he could say he taught him everything he knew!
If your a Jets fan, well.. I’m sorry for you luck. I don’t like kicking a guy when he’s down.
Or could you be one of those? you know… Steeler fans? Yes I know 6 rings.. got it.
either way, cut the man some slack.. lets see how he does.. If your right and he is a big loser then hey I’ll be the first to agree.. But lets give him some time..
