SportingNews.com: Ten Things That Could Follow Favre's Arrival In Minnesota

For our Monday offering at SportingNews.com, we take a look at ten things that might happen once the Vikings inevitably pull a drape off their new quarterback, Brett Favre.
The ten possibilities are right here.
And we tried to be a little more insightful than the basic “Vikings will be good” or “Vikings will suck.”  For a change.

    1. The plague
    2. Locusts
    3. Death of every Minnesotan’s 1st born son
    4. Rain of fire
    5. 10k lakes turning to blood
    6. Flood
    7. Vikings players go to deer camp as part of a “team building” activity
    8. A few thousand moronic, ex-Packer fans buying purple #4 jerseys to go along with the Jets #4 and Packers #4 jersey in their closets
    9. Madden turns around the Madden Cruiser….resets destination from Canton to Minneapolis, MN
    10. Inevitably, Brad Childress gets the boot when the Vikes miss the playoffs.

Brett Favre AND the Vikings suck. Your article is now complete.

Ohhh…and #11. Favre grows a mullet to rival Jared Allen’s

    Vikings will suck.

    Here’s mine
    1. Viking fans pee their pants in excitement
    2. Viking fans start making Super Bowl reservations in August
    3. Favre announces he feels “better than ever” as the season begins
    4. Vikings start 2-0. Any remaining hotel rooms in Miami are snatched up for the first weekend in February by those from Minnesota
    5. Favre returns to Green Bay, and to his shock and amazement, gets booed every time he takes a snap.. Favre tearfully sprints of the field before the final 0:00 on the clock, doing everything to avoid Aaron Rodgers, who just played the game of his life. Favre again breaks down in the post game press conference. He doesn’t understand why the fans don’t love him anymore, speculating that it was a Ted Thompson conspiracy.
    6. Favre throws an incredible string of 10 INT’s in a span of four games. Is seen holding his arm after every INT, mindful of the cameras on him and the speculation that will follow that he is hurt (he’s not, of course)
    7. Viking lose their last 4 to limp to a 7-9 finish
    8. Favre is despised in both Minnesota and Green Bay, as well as therest of the country
    9. Favre “retires”, tearfully. Hey, he gave it all he had. He just doesn;t have anything left to give.
    10. Speculation in May 2010 swirls that Favre may be considering a comeback with Detroit, so he can get back at those ‘evil’Packers and Vikings fans, both of whom have turned their backs on him

  6. Taintedtrophies says: Jun 22, 2009 4:48 PM

    #11 Possibility:
Packers season ticket holders scalp all their tickets to Vikings fans for the game at Lambeau, resulting in a sea of purple cheering on the Vikings to victory, while Ted Thompson is seen sneaking away and speeding off in the middle of the 4th quarter

  7. sullijo says: Jun 22, 2009 4:52 PM

You forgot……. “Local Media Man Crush”

  8. Taintedtrophies says: Jun 22, 2009 4:54 PM

    #12 possibilty:
Sage refuses to reply to Chilly’s and Wilfy’s text messages and phone messages, effectively forcing Ziggy to trade him to the Patriots after Giselle beats down Tom Brady and blowing out his other knee for not doing the laundry properly.

  9. dchefwendigo says: Jun 22, 2009 4:54 PM

ten touchdowns as farve starts dumping off to peterson

  10. 1961vikesguy says: Jun 22, 2009 5:00 PM

You forgot to mention that it was a cheap shot to Peterson’s knee by Harris !!!!!!!!!!!!

    MkePackFan
Then of course there will be Anotherpassover Jumpin yimminy Ole Bretteney threw anotherpassover Berrimans head that was intercepted and returned for a TD by Woodson

  12. SUPERBENGALFAN says: Jun 22, 2009 5:12 PM

What happens to Ted Thompson if Brett really does return as a Minnesota Viking to Lambeau Field and actually beats Green Bay in Green Bay and to make matters even worse, Brett beats the Packers in Minnesota as well? Will Packer fans hold Ted Thompson accountable?

  13. DeVoodoo says: Jun 22, 2009 5:30 PM

Nobody ponders this (more than likely) possibility… What if Adrian Peterson gets hurt?
This whole PERFECT MARRIAGE!!! between Favre and the Vikes is predicated on the fact that they have the game’s best RB running behind one of the best O-lines. That’s all fine and good, but it’s tough for any RB to make it thru a season unscathed, and especially so for one who runs as hard as Peterson.
So what if Peterson goes down early? Then the entire offense will fall on Favre’s shoulders (and surgically repaired bicep). And I think we all know how that would turn out.
I think this scenario is a lot more more likely than anyone is anticipating or discussing.

  14. Lead_Farmer says: Jun 22, 2009 5:30 PM

I really think that we should just skip the entire NFL season and just give the Vikings the Super Bowl. Just do it now. Fly those strippers in, Minnesota and take a cruise with the Lombardi trophy.
In fact, no way the Vikings even lose a game this season. Favre will shatter Brady’s touchdown in a season record, and Percy Harvin breaks Moss’record to become the best rookie in NFL history. Jared Allen will shatter every single bone in every quarterback’s body he faces.
If you listen to the media, all this will happen and more. It’s going to be awesome!

  15. dchefwendigo says: Jun 22, 2009 5:32 PM

whos got a better rating pack fanz?

  16. Football is life says: Jun 22, 2009 5:47 PM

Wouldn’t it be funny if Green Bay ends Farves Iron Man streak?

  17. purpleguy says: Jun 22, 2009 5:51 PM

Pretty good list Mkepackfan, going to be hard to follow. How about this:
    1. ESPN hires a full time 24/7 Favre reporter, who pitches a tent in the Viking ship outside of Winter Park.
    2. John Madden creates a new video game with Favre as the only player.
    3. John Clayton’s and Kevin Siefert’s and the ESPN NFL tonight show hosts’collective heads explode on the first day of training camp.
    4. Starting the opening day of the Vikes’trainining camp July 29, Wisconsin beer sales increase by 50%, maalox by 60%, and blood pressure medication by 70%.
    5. A permanent fog hangs over Green Bay all fall from the burning Favre jerseys.
    6. Wisconsin’s governor declares war on Minnesota.
    7. The public endures 36,123 dopey Vike fan Super Bowl predictions, and depression-advice phone lines later light up from 36,123 calls when Favre throws a pivotal interception in the NFC championship game.
    8. Green Bay runs out of pizza and doughnuts due to McCarthy’s increased anxiety-driven hunger (wait, that will happen anyhow).
    9. Wisconsin calls out the National Guard to maintain order when the Vikes play the Pack at Lambeau this November.
    10. The Vikes get a new stadium, to be called the Favrodome.

  18. LarryBird says: Jun 22, 2009 9:49 PM

    boom

  19. lito says: Jun 23, 2009 2:10 AM

Favre critics will watch him play. Go Vikings.

  20. Crankee says: Jun 23, 2009 12:09 PM

Lots of angry Packer fans here, huh? The Vikes will kick ass with former Jets QB, the beloved number 4, Brett Favre! To the genius above who asked about what would happen if Peterson goes down, probably from that girl with the long hair on the Packers defense going for another low blow, I ask you this: Have you ever heard of Chester Taylor????
The best part is, Favre will enter the pro football hall of fame as a Viking!

  21. BigBlue in tx says: Jun 23, 2009 5:23 PM

Still trying to figure out how an over-the-hill, interception happy QB is gonna help an over-rated, under-coached viking team. It appears the irrelevent NFC North needs to make niose the only time it can, the off-season. I would say that you can count on favre to throw the last second int in the playoffs, but we all know the vikings aren’t going that far. favre will actually look worse in purple then he did in green and white…

  22. martina says: Jun 23, 2009 5:27 PM

I live in So. Calif & began following Favre after Green Bay let him go (never to play football again if they had their way). I would discuss football with a young man, a big Packer fan. When Packers “threw out
favre”, my friend thought it was terrible. When Favre went to the Jets he continued to follow him. HOWEVER, now that Favre wants to play with the Vikes he not only hates Favre but me also! My God! Are there scenarios all over the country like this? Over someone we will never meet and who plays a game?

  23. Viksfaninaz says: Jun 25, 2009 12:48 AM

Big Blue I have to laugh that your even on this page… The Cowpies are a lost cause and you know it, Romo is a Choke, Roy Williams is Hack, and the Owner has plowed the So called “Americas Team” into the dirt. So If your on reading Vikings Blogs and articials feel Free to jump on the Band Wagon because Farve will look good in purple and gold holding a superbowl trophy and Packer fans will be gasping for air when it Happens….. Farve running onto The Frozen Tundra in a Purple #4 (it makes me warm and fuzzy) Hell even if he sucks its still makes my year to see the Biggest Packer in History finish as a Vikings I LOVE IT………..

  24. FrankyFiveFingers says: Jun 25, 2009 3:51 PM

He can retire at the end of the season because he realizes Brad Childress is an a$$, then he can unretire and go to the packers to get back at Wilf and Childress.

  25. FrankyFiveFingers says: Jun 25, 2009 3:54 PM

Is anyone bothering to note that Brett Farve was approximately 5-100 lifetime in the Minny turf? Does this stat not matter to anyone? The man can’t plan on that field.

  26. 2 Dimes and a Nickel Back says: Jun 25, 2009 10:07 PM

eh all these lists are stupid…bottom line is that Brett Favre > Tarvaris Jackson
The Minnesota Petersons have proved they can make it to the playoffs with arguably the worst QB tandem of the decade. Favre will make fewer mistakes than Jackson and Frerotte and the Vikings will be a better team. All Favre really has to do is hand the ball off and throw short passes. Something Tarvaris struggles at.

  27. JimmySmith says: Jul 1, 2009 6:58 AM

Sorry to see Childress go. For a second straight season, Brent will get his head coach fired. That’s what really hurts, Col Klink was in line for a nice 5 year contract extension and now this.

  28. Peoria Viking says: Jul 2, 2009 12:36 PM

If Peterson goes down, Chester Taylor runs for 1500 behind the same O line.

  29. Sterling says: Jul 2, 2009 4:35 PM

The Packers made the decision to trade Favre rather than let him play. The NFL is a business, no matter what anyone says. This is what they gambled would not happen, but now it appears it will. Too bad, so sad. I’m a Packer fan, and at first I was upset, but ya know .. the Packers had first dibs on Favre, and they didn’t want him, even though he’d had a GREAT year his last season in Green Bay. So really they did this to themselves. Who can blame a guy for wanting to come back and play in an offense he’s familiar with, in a dome, and collect $10 or $12 million? Heck, sounds like fun – I’d play against the Packers, too, for that kinda dough!
That said, I don’t think this will end well. ‘Cause these kind of things never do. As much as I disagree with McCarthy’s play-calling at times, he’s a smarter coach than Childress, and he has better players. All this talk about Adrian Peterson, but … who the heck is Favre gonna throw to? The Vikes ain’t exactly got a stellar receiving corps, and that’s one thing the Packers do have is pretty good WRs.
