Kenny Britt Learning The Ropes

As a Rutgers senior, Kenny Britt was the Scarlet Knights’ primary downfield weapon.

The imposing wide receiver caught 87 passes for 1,371 yards and seven touchdowns last year.

As the Tennessee Titans’ first-round draft pick, though, Britt is being eased into the lineup.

According to Gary Estwick of the Tennessean, Britt is, for now, just getting acclimated to the NFL as he works behind veterans Nate Washington and Justin Gage.

“Kenny can come in, relax and learn the offense,” Titans receivers
coach Fred Graves said of Britt, the first wide receiver the Titans
have taken in the first round since they picked Kevin Dyson in the 1998
NFL Draft instead of Randy Moss. “And at some point and time, learn
what his role is.”

Like many rookie wide receivers, Britt is experiencing a learning curve.

Like many rookie wide receivers, he’s also contending with a common ailment: a nagging hamstring injury.

For now, the tougher obstacle for the 30th overall pick is absorbing the complexities of the Titans’ playbook.

“Really, you have to know what everybody is doing on this
level,” Britt said. “You can’t just know what you’re doing, in case
they want to put you in a different spot.”

Based on his collegiate career and his size-speed combination (6’3,”
218 pounds and a 4.4 time in the 40-yard dash), Britt seems
well-equipped to eventually emerge as a solid go-to option for the
Titans.

In three seasons, Britt caught 178 passes for 3,043 yards and 17 touchdowns.
