Patriots receiver Wes Welker lost a teammate earlier this year, when quarterback Matt Cassel was traded to the Chiefs.
As Welker sees it, he has gained a potential bank.
“If I ever need a loan I can come to him,” Welker said at his annual football camp in Oklahoma City, per the Oklahoman.
Cassel, who’ll earn $14.65 million guaranteed this year, joined Welker at the annual event for at-risk children.
“When you get to step back and come to charity events like this and help out, it makes everything worthwhile and puts it all in perspective,” Cassel said.
And this is the time of year when pro football players conduct camps throughout the country. It’s a great way for the NFL to connect with fans in a way that the kids will never forget.
