In hindsight it shouldn’t be all that surprising that the Lions
pursued a trade for receiver Dennis Northcutt. After all, former
Jaguars V.P. of player personnel Shack Harris is now a member of the
Detroit front office, and the Lions need pass catchers to complement
the man known as Megatron.
It’s now a done deal, as announced by the Jaguars — Northcutt has been shipped to Motown for safety Gerald Alexander.
Alexander, who started every game as a rookie and the first five of Detroit’s 0-16 season in 2008, was a second-round pick in the 2007 draft.
So, basically, the Lions have devoted yet another first-day draft pick to a receiver.
Derrick Williams will have a bigger impact than Northcutt.
