I really dug CC as a receiver. Had a little problem when he left Philly to become a Viking and then suddenly pledged his allegiance to Minnesota. All he does is “catch touchdowns” but I lose respect for him when he opens his trap. I have a real hard time watching him on “that” network with his headjerks and dribble. It just seems weird to have a post-cokehead trying to be a rolemodel. Great, great receiver, potential HOF, he should have left it at that.

Does it matter whether or not Carter is being a hypocrite? The advice is good no matter who it’s coming from. If you can’t pay attention when someone is trying to share knowledge with you, no matter how much talent you have you won’t make it in the NFL.

I take it he must have been quoting from Homer’s Odyssey if someone fell asleep during the course of the lecture. No, wait, never mind, Mike didn’t criticize Carter.
Mike has made it clear that these guys are good for only one thing: getting paid money to bash in each other’s brains, right? (Eyes roll). Heck, why even bother making them go to college? Or even High School for that matter (no its not that different)?
Since Mike’s set the standard by lowering the bar, why even bother encourage them to try to meet any of societies other virtues such as, I don’t know … rules and laws? To mimic Mikes own words from his post about De Smith; For most of them, following rules is a means to an end, and the only rules they ever really need to follow comes with the title “NFL Rulebook.”
Chris Carter ACTUALLY puts someone to sleep and he gets applauded for making a scene about it, while De Smith tries to speak intelligently to those same men and he’s berated for being TOO SMART.
No, I’m not going to let this go. I’m not saying Mr. Carter is wrong in any way, just that you have applied a double standard when it comes to what is expected from an NFL player. But then again you are a Lawyer, and a pretty good one I hear, so I guess I shouldn’t expect any different. See, I can lower the bar too…

Harvin could have very easily been sleeping at the time, just not at the symposium. I’m not a fan of Carter but he can speak of screwing things up and then getting it together. He had good second half of his career after a rough start.
