It was only last year when Jason Taylor reportedly considered retiring rather than playing another season with the Miami Dolphins.
Now he’s back with the team, and he says this season won’t be his last if he has anything to say about it.
“I’ll be around until they kick me out,” Taylor said.
Taylor, 35, is under a one-year contract with the Dolphins, and the team plans to use him for roughly 20-25 snaps a game in a reserve role.
The idea is to keep Taylor fresh, and have him focus almost exclusively on rushing the passer. (It will also keep him healthy for the dance floor.)
By maximizing Taylor’s strengths, the Dolphins should create another solid market for his services next offseason.
Maybe he’s not that eager to go Hollywood after all.
Must be that Miami weather and scenery. I wish I were there.
“I’ll be around until they kick me out.”
Didn’t the Dolphins already do that when they traded him to washington?
Then they get him back on a one year deal for 1.5 mil, all the while miami got a good value for him on the washington deal.
Wow, Dan Snyder should be relieved of duty. Because he has no buisness running a buiness.
I think Jason realized that home is home, no matter how much money they are paying. I am glad he’s come back, but in a reserved role, I don’t see management keeping him around more that one year. I hope that if they decide to tell him to bounce, he decides to retire. One year in a Redskins uniform is enough blasphemy for one career.
On a side note, are we doing away with subscribing to the comment feed? I’ve seen at least one other post proposing the same question, but have yet to see an answer. And I would like to join the “Bring Back the Ratings” club. Other than those two issues, I think this site could have just morphed into the one stop football lover’s mecca. I am so stoked for you guys!
Jason Taylors still in the league?
He should have “played” last year.
I’ll always treasure the memory of how Mel Kiper made himself look like an idiot by blasting the Jaguars for not giving up their top draft picks to trade for Jason Taylor last offseason.
Sorry, Im on a mobile and can’t participatein the live blog. Just wanted to give some feedback on the site. The mobile homepage is working fine, but when you click on the stories it loads as a normal pagr and isnt formatted correctly for my phone. Its like CFT always was, this here site alwaus worked well.
Anyway, congrats again on your first day as part of the “real” media.
He wants to play until they kick him out? I guess his mind changed after refusing to do offseason work. What a classless jackass.
Hey – we should offer the Dolphins a 2nd rounder for em’!! Hail!
Taylor is taking his passion and making it happen!! What a feeling!!!
Teams that top his list are the L.A. Jags, L.A. Rams, L.A. Chargers, L.A. Vikings . . .
or maybe hollywood isnt that eager for Jason?
Will be interesting to see how quicky Cameron Wake eclipses HOF Jason Taylor. ‘Phin Fan has a treat in store…
Miami fans are extremely happy to have him back. His veteran presence will be felt on both sides of the ball, considering the workout he will give the o-line during training camp. Ever wonder how much of JT’s comments are fueled by his desire to have the Dolphins eventually retire his number?
I second the side notes regarding the mobile site, considering I usually only check this site using my Sprint BlackBerry. Please get a RSS feed or something similar up and running soon so I can have my fix wherever I might be!
I’ll believe it when I see it.
By the way, Congrats Florio, I thought you were gonna sell out big time but I guess I was wrong. You’ve come a long way, and this site has helped me get through some longer days in the office. Thanks.
Of course he can play a few extra years after he took last season off, all his injuries healed while sitting up in a suite at FedEx Field drinking wine and counting his 8 million dollars from Snyder.
What a joke…boy did we get fleeced by the Tuna!!
Taylor and J. Peezy comin off the same side on some plays is gonna be fun to watch
I think when he said “they” he was referring to the Dolphins. If he can still play and they can keep him on the cheap, why not? I am pretty sure no matter how much he could make somewhere else after a solid season, you will never see him again in anything but a Dolphins uni……….well okay, maybe a leotard or some other puffy-sleeved dance ensemble maybe, but that is another matter……he will retire a fin.
what happen to my 1st comment on this ? you have to be kidding me if you didn’t post it, all I did was call him a bum, whoever is the gatekeeper of the comments must be a dolphins fan. HAIL!
