If, you know, any calls come.
We don't know whether this is a new attitude on the part of the team, and specifically whether it comes in the wake of the disclosure that Marshall told police in October 2007, "I hate this f--king city."
And we continue to be fascinated by the possibility that Marshall's camp leaked the 20-month-old comment, in the hopes of stoking a fan and media outcry that could force the team to take the best offer they could get.
Schefter, a former Broncos beat writer, also believes that the Broncos would take a first-round pick for Marshall. And that's a surprise, given that the current market for a No. 1 wideout is a first-round pick and a third-round pick.
But even if Marshall can be had for only a first-rounder, his new team would also have to be willing to pay him $9 million or moew per year -- and would have to hope/wish/pray that neither his hip nor his off-field tendencies would keep Marshall from being available to play.
C'mon Florio. Fix the title.
When is this guy gonna grow up? I don't care what anyone says; Denver drafted some of the bitchiest players around over the last couple years. What a bunch of losers.
Your Headline is like fingers on a chalkboard....please fix it.
"Broncos Willing to Listen Offers for Brandon Marshall?"
"...while the Broncos won't be making calls, they will taking calls."
Geez, Florio. I will personally edit your stuff for free if it means we don't have to read what appears to be a 3rd grader's rough draft.
As sure as the title to this story is missing a key preposition, the Broncos will be missing Cutler and Marshall (soon to be a Raven, I'm thinking).
McDildo and co. are arrogant, blind, blundering fools, making the current fender-bender franchise into a trainwreck one.
Asking McDickhead to call the shots for your organization is like asking a drunken chimp to do your open-heart surgery.
Good luck with that, Broncs fans. I genuinely feel sorry for you.
In what way is the "current market for a No. 1" WR a first and a third round pick? I would say there is no current market for a #1, since no #1 WR has been traded in close to 9 months. Every situation is unique, too. Not to mention that Marshall is coming off surgery and is one incident away from a major suspension. Also, he's in the last year of his contract.
No one's going to give even a single first for this clown.
Turd is as turd does. Go Donkeys!!!!!
I don't think they should give in now. If they do all receivers will start acting like this. Then again Alot already do. Oh well.
They'd have to GIV E a first rounder to get rid of this scrotum. you can't catch the ball from the hospital or a jail cell.
Surley no team is stupid enough to give away a valuable asset (a first rounder) for this pile of garbage. Its pretty obvious that this cat wil be suspended before next seasons even over... if not before it even starts. He's one gf slap away from doing time next to Stallworth and Plexiglass.
As a lifelong Bronco fan, I am exhausted by this franchise and its 'makeover'. I have no idea what the process is intended to produce except a blank slate that bows to Josh McDaniels. And unlike most fans and prognosticators, I will say that the merits of such a system are unknown. He may, in fact, produce a string of Superbowl winners or highly competitive teams that make us all forget the mediocrity of the past few seasons. Still, it has been dizzying to watch the best players be driven from the team, a new defensive philosophy deployed whose needs we don't seem to have, and draft picks and players handled with a surety that belies their mercurial nature. I don't know that McDaniels is a fool but it would seem he is hellbent on bending the Broncos to his will. That and the fact that Bowlen seems to be suffering some sort of mental issue (particularly his memory issues) depress me during this offseason. I shall watch from a distance with far more apathy this time.
Wow. It looks like the Donkos are really cleaning house and taking out all the garbage. Maybe marshall should have done the same to the infamous McDonalds bag a year ago.
The guy doesn't deserve to play pro football.
Good article, but once again I'm distracted by typos in first and last paragraphs.
Doesn't NBC have anyone who can proofread your brilliance before it gets posted?
He and Cutler were complete D-Bags in Denver, but they both have a TON of talent. Marshall could put up the biggest numbers in the NFL if Cutler was still there. Denver didn't know they'd turn out this bad. Nobody can deny the talent he has, though.
Josh McDaniels is talent repellent.
DPR; obviously the market is set by the last comperable trade. Detroit got a first and third from Dallas for Roy Williams.
Anyone who thinks Denver isn't willing to trade Marshall is retarded. I understand they have to avoid the perception that a player can get want he wants if he bitches to the front office. Problem with Brandon is, after next year (assuming the rules remain the same if there's a new CBA) he's a free agent....and he will be gone. As a franchise, would you rather hang on to a T.O. type whiner that could possibly hurt team chemistry and get nothing for him when he skips town....or cut your losses now, try to get some value for him and get rid of the headache? Why do you think they're willing to deal for just a first? Hell, it would surprise me if they let him go for a secound rounder and a reasonably good player in exchange.
Knowing McDaniels logic, the broncs will trade Marshall for _______ (chose any of the flashy Bears WRs)
Washington baby! We need a WR DESPERATELY!
Just because the Cowboys were stupid enough to trade a first and third for a wide receiver does not mean that that is the market for a starting wide receiver. The Broncos will be lucky to get a second for a guy who is gonna lay down like a dog once he sees how lame Orton is. Good luck Denver!
it isnt like the broncos were winning championships before mcdaniels showed up...
Just when you thought Orton might have a stud WR to throw to.
Buccaneers could use one more dependable WR to add to the collection of weapons this year. Tampa would welcome you with open arms gladly!
Professor,
It has been a very long time since the Broncos have used a restricted tag on a player.
Brandon, will be on that list next year if he is still a Bronco.
Randel El and a 2nd or a 3rd, Snyder will take that, give him a call. HAIL!
Snyder get on the ringer! Send Denver someone like Smoot who the Broncos would drool over (while the rest of us laugh at their stupidity) for Marshall. Throw in a 4th round pick for good measure. Take the bait McDoofus it's right there in front of you!
The Donkeys just keep making things better and better, McDildo really F'd up when he showed up there, he took a team with some good offensive talent and flushed it all away, it looks like the AFC east belongs to the Chargers, and dare I say maybe the Raiders in second with a 5-11 record
I wouldn't give anything more than a 2nd rounder for him. He's got elite talent, but WAY too many "if's" with this guy to demand a first round pick.
Marshall should be traded... He is one of the best, if not the best, WR when he decides he wants to play. That being said the dude doesn't show up every Sunday and I wouldn't want him on the Eagles. Anyteam that pays a first rounder for him is retarded. Offer a second and something else but he's not worth a first unless its a very late first round pick.
The Bucs should just really trade for him. With all the talent the Bucs have on offense they're gonna need it cause the defense does not inspire confidence. Come on Glazers, show the tampa bay community that ya'll actually care about the team ya'll own.
Its amazing how hateful some of y'all can be about people you don't even know...who are playing a freakin' game.
First of all Dallas gave up a 1 3 and 6 for Williams and also got back a 6th in return.
having said that getting a first for Marshall is mandatory, anything else is a bonus. too bad the bears do not have a 1st.
So where could he go:
Chiefs - could be a great complement to LSU's Own Bowe
Cleveland - You never expect much from a rookie WR and they spent 2 2nd's on rookie WR's. Stallworth probably won't play much if at all and a 1st is cheaper than a 1st and 3rd for boldin.
Bungals - TJ left Henry will probably get arrest before training camp and cutting ties with loud mouth chad "i refuse to call this douche bag anything else) johnson would at least break even oney wise.
Philly - Just because I would love to hear them whine about not winning a Superbowl despite everything being in place. They have a lot of WR but no one who is truly big.
Minnesota - Really is anyone scare od any WR they have. Hell their WR wouldn't scare a LB if they had to cover them.
Baltimore - Derrick Mason is almost eligible for AARP membership. NO one else is really a burner or even a #2 WR. Plus it would help me in rooting against the blackbirds all that more.
I would like to say Tennessee if it wasn't for 2 things.
1. Kerry Collins has an arm similar to Sandy Koufax and
2. Vince young is one more you suck chat from kicking the dining room chair out from under him and swinging in a flea bag motel.
knowing him he would pull an officer and a gentleman and swallow his NCAA championship ring before doing so.
Those are my thoughts and rants.

I'm sure the Bears might be willing to part with
Devin Aromashoda,
John Broussard,
Brandon Rideau,
Derek Kinder,
Johnny Knox,
Earl Bennett,
or Eric Peterman
for him.
Interested, McDupe?
Make no mistake, a first and third is "the market" for a top wideout. The market is nothing more than a standard set by the last comperable trade. I didn't say that's a reasonable expectation but I guarentee that's what Denver was asking for when this started. I hope nobody thinks Denver felt Dallas paid too much for Roy so they said "we want to be fair so we'll take less than a first and third." Obviously a first and third is not going to happen. If the Cards couldn't get it for Boldin, then there's no way Denver will get it for Brandon. Still, you can't blame them for starting out at "fair market value."
Ravens?
"Philly - Just because I would love to hear them whine about not winning a Superbowl despite everything being in place. They have a lot of WR but no one who is truly big."
Philly does not need this guy. They are the best team in the division. If they got Marshall without giving up too much, they would be unstoppable and would win a superbowl. I would cry.
Sure he made Pro Bowl and had some impressive yardage and catch numbers last year, but only 6 TD's and when the Broncos needed just one victory over the final three games of the season to make the playoffs, he failed to even score once.
Please, someone make an offer for 'Baby-T.O.' and replace him with someone like Rod Smith.
for those of you who think that Marshall would be good for your team, you're wrong. He's a whiner, complainer, and is an absolute awful teammate. Just watch past Bronco games. When Cutler would overthrow him he would get really pissed and have some words with his QB. Not only that but he has alligator arms and disappears from games quite often, especially in crunch time.
He's the most overrated WR in the league and is MUCH MUCH MUCH more trouble than he's worth. Remember people, he's a woman beater who's been accused of abuse by seperate women.
As a Chiefs fan all I can say is: "Keep up the good work Josh!"
