Andrew Davie spent four years in the St. Louis Cardinals' minor league system before realizing he was 6'4" and 275 pounds.
Then he changed sports, and now he will head to training camp with the Carolina Panthers.
The 26-year-old undrafted rookie tight end was claimed off waivers by Carolina from the Jets Thursday.
In a three seasons at Arkansas, Davie caught 24 passes for 199 yards and six scores. The blocking specialist helped clear the way for Darren McFadden and Felix Jones in 2007.
Davie's backstory is a good one, but he's probably a longer shot to stick on an NFL roster than the winner of Spike TV's 4th and Long. (A joke about the show would make sense here, but I'm probably the only person in America watching it.)

Gregg, now I know of someone else who is watching fourth and long with me...
I just got caught up on this week's episode. I'm still shocked at the ending. Wideout should have stayed, I think.
Don't understand the move. The cats have three TEs and a good looking blocking TE from Rutgers they signed after the draft. This guy will be cut.
