Lately, word has emerged that the Bears likely won't be chasing Burress, whose career (and liberty) is in jeopardy due to pending felony charges in New York.
And linebacker Brian Urlacher isn't shocked that the Bears have bailed. If anything, Urlacher was befuddled that the Bears ever had an interest.
"I was surprised when I heard they were going after him at all because as a player, I [know there will be] some type of suspension," Urlacher said Thursday, according to Vaughn McClure of the Chicago Tribune.
"My first thought with [Burress] was, would he even be able to play this year?" Urlacher said. "You have to wonder how long you're going to have him or when he's going to be available.
"[But] he's a great receiver [and] I would have been open to it."
In our view, look for Commissioner Roger Goodell to suspend Burress indefinitely if he is indicted later this month by a New York grand jury. It then will be up to Burress to decide whether to strike a plea bargain (if one is even still available), spend a few months in jail, and return to the field free and clear in 2010 -- or whether to stand trial in late 2009 or early 2010 and risk a 3.5-year mandatory minimum sentence.
HoustonTexans.com counts down the top five gutsiest plays in Texans history.
C'mon -- tallest vertically challenged contest?
The "gutsiest" play in Texans history is passing on Reggie Bush and Vince Young.
Now, I know Florio likes to bash Bush and Young but the Saints and Titans have been to the playoffs. The Texans have not -- even with the poor man's Reggie Bush.
Fighting Illini, I am dumber for having read what you wrote. Congratulations.
There is a difference between the value of a part and the actions of the whole. Williams has been a superior player, playing for a more troubled franchise, in a more difficult environment.
By your logic, anyone the Patriots or Steelers drafted in the past few years will be superior to anyone the Lions or Raiders draft, regardless of the player.

I Love the Bears with all my Heart..... You figure that they worked SOOOOOO HARD to Acquire Jay Cutler... Why is it that they have or haven't pursued a Guy who has all these off-field issues and why not go with a Mature Hard Working Wide Receiver Like Marvin Harrison..... If you do one thing, you have the other..... It's COMMON SENSE......
Plax will playing for Rikers Island, they are trying to sign him to 3 and a half year contract.

Because Harrison is washed up.
Why do you think you have not seen any other team in the league pick him up yet?
