Brian Brohm is in the middle of the wrong quarterback controversy.
When he was drafted, the second round pick was expected to someday challenge starter Aaron Rodgers.
Entering his second season, Brohm can't pass seventh rounder Matt Flynn on the depth chart.
As mentioned by Josh Alper in Sunday's One-Liners, Brohm remains buried. The Green Bay Press-Gazette says the Louisville product "seemingly did little to enhance his chances" of winning the backup job this offseason.
Flynn, also drafted in 2008, won the backup job over Brohm last year with a superior preseason. Offensive coordinator Joe Philbin gave a rather tepid review of their improvement.
"Well, certainly they're better than they've been," Philbin said.
Rodgers also struggled as a rookie, a reminder that it's far too early to make a verdict about Brohm. But the Louisville product needs to show something soon or risk having an NFL career that lasts only slightly longer than the pro football tenure of his former college coach.

Well, unless Aaron gets hurt...It really doesn't matter at this point.
But, but, but Bobby Petrino said he was a great QB and the future while at Louisville. Oh yeah, Bobby Petrino also said he wasn't leaving the Atlanta Falcons.
Rodgers and Flynn are our future....I was not impressed with Brohm at all last year.
Petrino is a real class act....
Not sure what this love affair with Ted Thomson is about. The guy is vastly overrated.
Where was Thompson mentioned in the article? Still continuing your hatefest, eh? Get over it, Favre's gone. If Green Bay doesn't do anything this year, I'm sure the organization will start looking long and hard as to whether to keep Thompson or not. Until then, I am optimistic about the new season.
The Brohmance is over, he's a bust.

Strange, too, that just last year nobody predicted Brian Brohm could end up having a less successful NFL career than his bro, Jeff.
One preseason worth of experience is not a lot to go on.
If I recall, Rodgers looked horrible for two straight pre seasons.
Thank god he wasn't called on last year and with any luck, he wouldn't this year either.
One preseason isn't a lot, true, but there are some advantages that Brohm has that Rodgers did not.
For example:
a) Each of Rodgers's first two preseasons were his first year in a new system, this is Brohm's second year in the same system.
b) Brohm played for four years at Louisville, starting all but his first (where he still threw 98 passes and 6 TDs). Rodgers was a Junior College transfer and played only two years at Cal before declaring for the draft as a Junior.
c) Aaron Rodgers played in a so-called "system offense" notable for turning out busts in the NFL. Brohm played in a so-called "pro-style offense" and was described as "NFL ready" in the draft process.
