Report: Favre Makes $30,000 Deposit On Edina Condo

Though any bit of evidence strengthening the connection between quarterback Brett Favre and the Minnesota Vikings fairly should be regarded at this point as redundant and obvious and predictable (and, well, nauseating), Charley Walters of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports that Favre and his wife placed a $30,000 deposit last week on a condo near 50th and France in Edina.

Previously, there were rampant rumors that Favre had purchased a house near the team's headquarters.

Favre's agent, Bus Cook, also represented the late Steve McNair, who'll be buried on Saturday in Hattiesburg, Mississippi.  Thus, it's unlikely that Favre will formalize his looming relationship with the Vikings this week.  Instead, look for something to be announced between July 13 and July 17 -- especially since single-game tickets to this year's slate of Vikings' home games will go on sale July 20.

Meanwhile, anyone who hopes to buy tickets to the October 5 home game between the Vikings and the Packers also will have to buy a ticket to the August 2 preseason game against the Chiefs.

It doesn't matter. If he plays for the Vikings he will just add to his interception total. I don't think he is cut out to be a role player. He will be chucking the ball all over the place.

I'd be surprised if a Raider fan could do that. Might I suggest not reading the article and then spending time commenting that you are sick of reading about the guy?

    what a douche bag.

lol @ them trying to keep all of this a secret. That ass clown knows exactly what he is doing. Just a typical attention whore.

I hope he gets laid out in Greenbay and never plays again. It will take something like that to shut him up for good. His best days are clearly behind him., and boo to the Vikings for not letting 2 QB's that actually would want/try and earn the position, and just give it to some old washed up attention whore that is just going to give out on you at the end of the season.

I wish the Vikings were scheduled to come to Cowboys stadium this year so Favre could get slammed by D.Ware and just end it for good. 0-10 all time in Dallas would be great too. Better yet I wish he would get feed to the Steelers or Giants defense. screw him.

I saw you yesterday on NFLN there was a special about the 43 Super Bowls winning teams.....oh no wait it was the missing rings segment where I saw your team lose 4 Super Bowls.

So you think Favre is going to change that......It would be funny if he lost a SB for you guys so you had 5 SB losses.

So continue on with your senseless babble your trophy case is empty and it always will be!

While it's a great area, I can't believe Favre would want to live in that area. It's FAR from secluded and private which is something he seems to always go for. It's basically a yuppie entertainment and shopping district.

Learn something new every day, I guess...

I love the sales gimmick here:
"No ticket for the GB game unless you get a ticket for the CHIEFS game, too..."

That'd be like a store saying you couldn't buy milk, eggs, or bread unless you bought a Ricky Martin CD, too.

Ingenious bit of salesmanship, I must admit
(which means there's no way in HELL anyone in the Vikings organization thought of it).

I don't know about Minnesota, but they just had an article in the Philly Inquirer about how secretive the real estate people are about getting digs for movie stars when they come to Philly. I'd be surprised that there'd be a legit news report about Favre that includes the address of his new rental.

As for the guys who'd be surprised by a Raiders fan working a computer - hell, that's what most of the guys in the Black Hole actually do for a living. Sure they dress like extras from the Road Warrior, but in reality - they're mostly just a bunch of computer geeks.

OF COURSE Favre is going to live somewhere public, where he'll get plenty of attention...any real surprise there?

The whole "going home to ride the tractor on the farm" bit?

I'd bet it's all media-fueled, manufactured mule crap, part of that baloney-ious "just a kid who loves to play the game" mystique B.S.

Besides, I bet Favre has 3 Manuels, 2 Pacos, 2 Joses, and 1 Raoul that do his lawn for him.

I also bet Lord Favre throws his empty martini glasses at "the help's" head when the drinks don't come fast enough, or after he's watched 5 minutes of TV without seeing an update on himself...

I still think not enough attention is given to the fact that Birk is gonna be missed for all the same reasons Vikes fans are saying Favre will help. Birk had seen it all, was the anchor of that line for a long time, and his replacement had better be awfully good right away. Favre's not going to like that right side of the line caving all year. Bears' defense is licking their chops.

  30. superfan89 says: July 6, 2009 3:57 PM

The Vikings' trophy case is empty, but Vikings fans can take heart in the fact that 14 other current NFL teams have never won a Super Bowl, and 7 other franchises have never won a championship.

Meanwhile, only the Lions, Browns and Cardinals can compete with the Raiders for the title of crappiest team of the last 10 years.

And given crazy Al's crazy antics I think they've got the title wrapped up at least until he kicks the bucket. Nothin' against the Raiders, I'm just sayin.

    This isn't you, is it?

    Name: Joe Metts
Title: Editor – NCAA Basketball Analyst – MLB Analyst
Interests: From an early age I enjoyed writing about several different topics. With sports being a large part of my life, that was one of my most enjoyable subjects to write about. My dream would be to play baseball at the collegiate level and study either Journalism / Mass Communications, Business, or Law. In my spare time I like to play video games, roam the internet, and watch my favorite athletic teams play.
Favorite Teams: Duke Blue Devils (NCAA Basketball), Virginia Cavaliers (NCAA Baseball), Atlanta Braves (MLB), Tennessee Titans (NFL)
Favorite Athletes: Chipper Jones has been my idol in baseball since I was 4 or 5 years old. Other than that I really enjoyed watching Chris Johnson when we was at ECU and to see him playing for the Titans is great. Gerald Henderson was always my favorite Duke player since his days as a freshmen and to have him in Charlotte now is great. I also love to watch Tyler Cannon play for the Cavaliers, he is great to watch on the diamond.

    Hey Joe M,

This is a done deal. It has been done for over 2 months. All these Favre stories are just filler until the big unveiling in about 10 days. There was only the question of Favre's shoulder recovery from the scope procedure. No shoulder, no purple #4. The shoulder is fine and will get stronger. The contract is probably already on ice. When it's official, and the circus is in town to stay, the Vikings will sign Winfield and the rest of the draft picks will fall into line.

I have never wanted Favre on my team but I don't get to make that decision, much as I've bitched about it. So I am back to being a Vikings fan. I just want my team to win and entertain me.

The rockheads that insist on equating the Vikings of today with the Vikings of the past are inhaling their own gases. It's like saying the Packers of 2009 are a Super Bowl team because there a few Lombardi trophies in the case at Lambeau. They positively are NOT a Super Bowl team until the damn game is played. The Raiders of today suck. Deal with it. The Colts have won a couple of titles, but is anyone crowning them 09 winners yet? NO. The Packers won the bowl last in 97. That's 12 years ago. These Packer fan idiots claiming that we Vikings fans are blah blah wasting our time, that Minny will NEVER win the big one, etc are living in the past.

The NFL is a 'win now' league. If a team wins the Super Bowl every year, they are a great team NOW. New England has been dominant for the past many years. Before 2000, they only went to the bowl once and were a perennial doormat and occasional laughingstock on the field. Now everyone respects them except for the cheating scandal because they seem to win a lot. Green Bay won a few titles in the 1960s. THEN, they were a force to be counted and feared. NOW, they are just like all other teams looking for the next piece of the winning puzzle. So is Minnesota. So is Chicago. Detroit is perpetually shooting in the dark.

The Vikings teams that went to all those Super Bowls all those years ago ARE NOT going to be on the field in 2009. All any of us has to grab onto is on paper and in the media. Until the damn games are played, you loudmouths are only making armpit farts.

OK Vikings and Vikings fan haters, answer this: Can your wife still wear the prom dress from high school? Can you go and re-rent that Prom tux in that same size and button the pants? No? I can't. Times change. I'll bet you can't even say you're driving the same car you were in 2005.

First I want to say all this Favre news is just a tease for when the announcement that Favre is a memeber of the Minnesota Viking's is officially made. With that said... keep the teases coming Mr Florio. Its the only reason to check this sight everyday. SilvernBlack666 is a joke. I wont even address this clown directly. To anyone who doesn't like checking these posts just stop reading them it really is that easy. All the Vikings haters know deep down that they are exited about the prospect of Favre becoming a Viking and know that writting hateful words about him, the team, and its fans, is the only way to feel conected to what will prove to be, at the least, one of the most exiting, and talked about NFL teams this season.

  52. betheball says: July 7, 2009 11:04 AM

While it seems to be a foregone conclusion that Favre will be a Viking this season, the fact that he's buying Real Estate in the area seems to indicate that he plans to be in Minnesota beyond the 2009 season. If he knew he was just coming back for one more shot at a ring (and to get back at Thompson and the Packers), why not rent? Of course, having played in Green Bay for 16 seasons, Brett is well versed in the Vikings history of futility and that it may take more than one year to win a Super Bowl in Minnesota. However at Brett's age, I don't think he has the time to wait for Hell to freeze over.

  53. cm2006 says: July 7, 2009 11:40 AM

Brett isn't an angel, but you have to remember that he will not hang it up until he wants to, that's what Phil Simms told him to and it's right. Brett's mistake in my estimation is probably he should have given an unqualified "yes, I'm going to play" and then kept his mouth shut until only he and his wife and God tells him hang it up. That day hasn't come. This guy is not Johnny U or Joe Namath their last year.

This is a guy that had super stats just two years ago and had d*** good stats the first half of last year. Run the ball and save your arm. The Vikings are the perfect team to save that arm for the 2nd half of the season. All you sourpusses need to give the man some room. If he does go Unitas and Namath on the football world, we will know. He hasn't yet. Cut the guy some slack for pete's sake.

all you fans who think farve should stay out of minnesota should rethink this. I've been a vikes fan since 1968. Farve, even at age 39, is better than anything we have right now and if you think different, you haven't been watching very closely the last couple of seasons. All the ingredients are in place right now. If we wait for jackson to come around, it might be to late, and sage just isn't as good as farve. All we need is someone to drive the bus, and farve will be my choice to do that! Like he said in an interview, we have a pretty good running game and if we can complete a few passes we should be pretty good. ( makes sense) oh, and don't forget about the defense, its pretty good to.

    The House of Favre
Brett Favre has put $30,000 down on a condominium in Edina. Considering his blue collar sensibilities, where should he live should he become a Viking?

    A. Edina's fine. It's close to the practice facility in Eden Prairie.
    B. Minneapolis.
    C. If his collar is really blue he'll live in St. Paul.
    D. If he wants super tough-guy cred he'll stay in Brooklyn Park.

  62. blahblahblah says: July 12, 2009 4:19 PM

    Makes sense.....

The 50th & France area of Edina is exactly half way between the Vikings practice facility in Eden Prairie, and the Metrodome in downtown Minneapolis (about 8 miles away from each)..... and by far the nicest place to live at this midway point (close to highways, shopping, city lakes, and most importanly - good hospitals!).
