Nashville police say that they have been reluctant to rule the deaths of former Titans and Ravens quarterback Steve McNair and his girlfriend, 20-year-old Sahel Kazemi, a murder-suicide because of a lack of evidence of motive.
In other words, there were no prior signs of trouble. No restraining orders or arrests or 911 calls.
As to the latter, Kazemi made such a call regarding her on-again, off-again boyfriend, Keith Norfleet.
Per NewsChannel5.com in Nashville, Kazemi called for help after Norfleet allegedly assaulted her in January 2009.
“My boyfriend just threw my phone right in my face, and he’s going crazy, and I don’t want him here,” Kazemi said.
A police report of simple assault was filed, but Kazemi did not press charges.
Police consistently have said that Norfleet is not a suspect, and we continue to believe that he isn’t.
But we also continue to believe that this case is more complex than it seems.
whats so hard to believe about a 20 year old woman going nutts and shooting her boyfriend who might have told her thats it we are done.
Face it Florio your not going to get your prime time movie special
The ole “whip a phone into someone else’s face” trick…
Russell Crowe and Naomi Campbell commend you Norfleet.
Here’s an idea…..wait till everything are gathered and declared as the result then report it.
Few days ago, I viewed McNair one of kickass QB but thanks to you, now I view him in same matter as how I view Favre…. annoying.
It’s not hard to believe that she killed Steve McNair and then shot herself……it’s called investigating to make sure that’s exactly what happened.
So norfleet is so violent to lightly throw a phone in her face (or else why was she calmly talking on the phone to the 911 operator) and nothing else. Yep thats murderer material.
“Police consistently have said that Norfleet is not a suspect, and we continue to believe that he isn’t.”
Um your writing makes this comment BS as you constantly seem to want to have Norfleet on the grassy knoll but you’re too scared of being found libel.
wvugrad00 ..Don’t hate the Hawg…hate the Game!…..Florio is a Hawg…for Life!
Oh yeah, lab report is in, Murder Suicide. All bullets from the same gun, the gun owned by Kazemi. Gun powder test also points to murder suicide.
Now floorboy care to speculate why Kazemi felt she needed a gun after McNair left her during the DUI?

Just adding to the jealous, insecure, “can’t live without you” scenario.
So basically instead of using his pimp hand he uses his Sony-Ericsson? That’s one bad ass mama-jama. No doubt he did it now.
Channeling my inner Poirot:
Clue 1: No sign of forced entry
Clue 2: Kazemi purchased firearm
Clue 3: Jealous boyfriend
Clue 4: McNair arrives at condo when Kazemi already there
Scenario: Kazemi purchased weapon for protection against Norfleet. Norfleet comes to condo to see Kazemi alone. Kazemi calls McNair. Kazemi pulls gun on Norfleet, in struggle for gun, Kazemi is shot with the gun in her hand. McNair arrives to find Kazemi dead, Norfleet shoots McNair and leaves.
Case solved?

What’s so hard to believe about a 20ish jilted boyfriend pulling the trigger on the girl who dumped him and also offing her high-profile boyfriend?
Presser scheduled for 2:45 that will declare it a murder suicide but don’t let things like evidence sway the doubters.
Cue the crackpots claiming that someone staged it all with the gun she bought, killed them both, and then held her lifeless fingers on the trigger while putting the final shot into McNair’s head to fake the GSR before placing the gun under her body. How could it not be a double homicide? It all hangs together so nicely.
If it walks like a duck and quacks like it duck it is most likely a duck.
Norfleet sent an email to the Tennessean on July 2nd — two days before the murder — to rat out “golden boy McNair” for a DUI stop and cheating on his wife. Very hateful email toward McNair:

Coincidentally on that SAME DAY, Norfleet bought a pistol (for Kazemi it’s been reported) and Norfleet’s associate posted on MySpace that McNair and Kazemi were going down. There was also a report about McNair being threatened at a local restaurant on July 3rd that a “jealous boyfriend” was going to kill him.
Or … the starstruck, happy girl who was being given everything in life turned into a stone-cold assassin and expert marksman, then shot herself in the friggin forehead of all places.
Hmmm, tough one here guys!
My prediction is this, the case will be resolved within the week, it’s murder suicide, and we’ll never know why.
My guess is based on the fact that the police department is being very careful about what they say publicly. They realize this is a very high profile case and doing their due diligence to ensure a thoroughly competent investigation. Since they have no motive, they can’t say for sure it’s murder suicide until the lab results come back on the powder burns from the gun. Once they do, and it shows she pulled the trigger, this all goes away immediately.
I think Florio is reading too much into this if he’s seeing the same stories I have, but not sure if that’s because he has some inside information, or is just speculating because the NFL is pretty boring right now.
OK, here’s another “Why’s it so hard to believe”:
Let’s say the girl is nuts enough to cap her sugar daddy after he wants to break up. Is it so hard to believe that her whackiness might have manifested itself in the past, to an extent that her then-boyfriend wailed his cell phone at her?
Right on, godfather. The fact that this case is going to turn out to be exactly what it looks like, murder/suicide, is going to be extremely dissappointing to the conspiracy theorists.
Unfortunately for them, the fact is that most of the time in life, and death, things are exactly as they seem. Has it ever occurred to them that NPD interviewed the boyfriend and he had an air-tight alibi? Just because they didn’t immediately alert the press doesn’t mean it didn’t happen.
I suspect when the presser at 2:45 is over, and the NPD outlines all of the steps in the investigation that led to their conclusion, alot of posters here are going to look pretty foolish.
To wvugrad00 :
Because people that get dumped don’t usually resort to killing the dumper and then putting a bullet thru their head. That’s why. Does Kazemi have a documented history of mental health issues that would lead to such irrational behavior?
I agree with Florio that there potentially seems to be more to it than what appears on the surface at this time.
not bad this time Florio – only accusing someone of murder with no evidence whatsoever to support that. Let me see – one person has multiple gun shot wounds while sitting on a couch, the other has one to the head and a gun is found next to the body? it is pretty clear cut – but not to the best rumor site on the internet, where it is fine to throw peoples’ names around in connection to a murder. Have some standards. Some, anything.
